Square says it will start accepting Apple Pay sometime in 2015

Square will support Apple Pay at some point next year, according to its founder, Jack Dorsey. Dorsey reiterrated comments from earlier this year in which he said that Square aimed to accept all forms of payment, and that includes Apple Pay. While some have tried to play up Apple Pay as a rival of Square, Dorsey said he disagrees.

Square launches worldwide support for its iPhone and iPad Register app

Square has expanded the reach of its Register software for the iPhone and iPad worldwide. It announced today that the app is now available "even in countries without integrated Square processing." It can now also accept payments from 130 different currencies.

You can now text money with Square Cash

Square Cash, the app from retail point-of-sale developer Square that lets you email money directly to your friends, has been update to let you text money directly to your friends. As before, Square Cash does this free of charge, and you can send a Square Cash text to any phone number to transfer fund from your debit card to theirs.

Square getting an EMV chip update for more secure mobile credit card payments

The little card reader that launched a mobile payments revolution — Square — today unveiled a new version of their card reader that is designed to work with the EMV chipped credit cards. EMV credit cards are a mainstay around the world and just starting to make headway in the United States (including a fraud liability deadline for businessses coming up in October 2015), and the new version of Square supports EMV in addition to the old-school magnetic swipe strip.
