The iTunes Festival from SXSW in Austin, TX, will be kicking off tonight and Vevo has announced that it too will be streaming the action live. The kicker is that Vevo will be streaming the iTunes Festival in some of the same exact ways that Apple will be doing; in other words to Apple customers only.
From Tuesday, March 11 - Saturday, March 15, Vevo iOS and Apple TV viewers, as well as Mac Safari users (go to http://vevo.com/itunesfestival at 10pm CT tonight), can crank up the action and be part of rock, pop, hip-hop, and country concerts - each night's program offers three star acts.
So to stream things live then you still need to be using iTunes, a Mac, iOS device or Apple TV. Should Vevo have been offering a slice of the action to non-Apple customers, that would have been a bigger deal. As it stands, you've just got more choices on how to watch the festival on the same exact devices.
The iTunes Festival begins tonight, live from Austin at SXSW with performances from London Grammar, Imagine Dragons and Coldplay. Who's excited?
