When Google Maps got its big visual refresh back in June, one of the new features it introduced was something called "For You." For You is a section in Maps that recommends new places to check out based on your preferences, lets you know about new restaurants that open, and events happening in your area.
Today, Google's announcing that For You is now expanding to 130+ additional countries for Android users and, for the first time, is coming to iOS in more than 40 countries.
Per Google's announcement post:
Today, the For You tab is making its way over to Google Maps in over 40 countries on iOS and 130+ new countries on Android—helping you stay up to date on fun, new places so you'll know exactly where to take the fam this winter. The For You tab is designed to be a constant source of inspiration tailored to your tastes and preferences. Simply follow neighborhoods or places you're interested in to get updates and recommendations—everything from recent news about an opening or pop up, a new menu item, and even restaurant suggestions based on what you're likely to enjoy.
If you've already had access to For You, have you been actively using it or mostly ignoring it? I personally already use Google Maps for finding new restaurants and reading reviews for them, so having a page dedicated just for stuff like that has proven to be a nice addition.
