Kate Winslet, Michael Fassbender pick up Oscar nominations for 'Steve Jobs' roles

Universal's Steve Jobs biopic has received a couple of Academy Award nominations. Following a win at the Golden Globes, Kate Winslet has picked up a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in her role as former Apple marketing boss Joanna Hoffman. Michael Fassbender, meanwhile, has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his work as Steve Jobs himself.

Steve Jobs recently picked up two Golden Globes, a Best Supporting Actress award for Winselt, as well as a Best Screenplay for writer Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin was not nominated for an Oscar for this film. Michael Fassbender had also been nominated for a Golden Globe, but lost out to Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant.

While a critical success, Steve Jobs failed to impress at the box office, earning just $7.3 million in its opening weekend in wide release. The film was later pulled from theaters due to this performance. Steve Jobs will be available for purchase digitally on February 2, with a Blu-ray and DVD release on February 16.
