How to have Siri check for and read email messages in iOS 7

Siri has a few new tricks up her sleeve in iOS 7 including some new ways to interact with your email. Not only can Siri check for and let you know when new emails come in, she can also read them to you. Here's how:

How to check for new messages with Siri in iOS 7

  1. Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone or iPad to activate Siri.
  2. Now say something like Check my email. or Do I have any new emails?
  3. Siri now checks for new emails and gives you a brief overview. You can tap on any one of them in order to launch them directly in the Mail app.

How to have Siri read an email message in iOS 7

  1. Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone or iPad to activate Siri.
  2. Now say something like Read my email. or Read my email from Rene Ritchie.
  3. Siri will begin reading your emails with the newest one first or only the ones that are from the specified sender.

That's all there is to it! If you've used this feature before, what do you think of it? Have you found any other ways to get Siri to interact with email? If so, let us know in the comments!

Another great tip! I keep forgetting about this one. I may need to set a reminder to have Siri check my messages. At least until it becomes a habit of me asking on my own. Great tip!

Hi Allyson...these Siri tips you've been providing are great. Here's a cool one, ask Siri if there are any planes above you. Thanks and keep up the great work. Happy new year.

Great...didn't know Siri now did this! Also didn't know Siri could create an email from A to Z either. When doing that for the first time Siri could verbally choose between email addresses successfully as well.

Great tip! I use Siri to set my clock and timer but have been trying to use it more for other things so these tips come in handy.

I've been using the reply and review commands for years, but now when I have siri read new messages, and say yes to reply, I cannot review my outgoing text message. Siri thinks I want to review new incoming text messages and fails and I lose my message.

Anyone have a fix for this?
