Apple releases new MacBook Pro commercial, Colors

Apple has released a new commercial to show off their new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. It uses the trademark "start sideways to show how thin it is, then rotate slowly to center to show how stunning the Retina display is." The tagline is "for the pro in all of us."

October 23 preview: Imagining Apple's iPad mini event

Back in May, iMore learned Apple would be going ahead with a 7-inch iPad and targeting an October release. Now Apple has gone and announced an October 23, 2012 event, and while we won't know the exact agenda until Apple executives take the California Theater stage, it's widely expected that the iPad mini will be star of the show. But it won't be the whole show. Whether Apple runs the October iPad/Mac event like the September iPhone/iPod event, as essentially two separate events glued together, or whether they run them as a single event like the WWDC Keynote that flows from one topic to another, rumors persist of a focus on iBooks, of an updated iPad 3, of new Macs, and perhaps of more.

New details on new Macs rumored for Oct. 23 Apple event

Apple is reportedly holding an iPad mini event on Tuesday, October 23, and iMore has heard for a while that new Macs would likely be along for the ride. That includes a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, new iMacs, and a new Mac mini.

We grabbed App Cubby honcho and Gas Cubby, Launch Center, and Timers visionary, David Barnard right after the WWDC keynote to get his thoughts on Retina MacBook Pros and iOS 6... then we grabbed him the next day to reshoot the whole thing with better audio. (He's a champ like that.) David did an excellent job intuiting Apple's path to Retina, and he elaborates on that here. Also, David dives into iOS 6 -- what it tells us about Apple, and what it means for developers.

Editor's Desk: WWDC 2012 aftermath

WWDC, Apple's once-yearly platform keynote, and the biggest gathering of Mac and iOS developers on the planet, is over. Tim Cook has welcomed us and bid us adieu. Phil Schiller has shown us the most advanced laptops in the world. Again. Craig Federighi gave us a first and final tour of OS X Mountain Lion, and Scott Forstall pulled the curtain back on iOS 6. A lot of numbers got thrown around, and that was for the sessions even began.
