Apple TV+ has received a handful of nominations for this year's BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards. Both Wolfwalkers and Greyhound were nominated in different categories.

Wolfwalkers, the Apple TV+ animated film that received ten nominations at the 2021 Annie Awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Film, has also been nominated for Animated Film at the BAFTA Awards.

The animated film tells the story of a father and daughter who, after traveling to Ireland to destroy the last wolf pack, uncovers a secret that changes her perception about the tribe they are after.

In a time of superstition and magic, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn Goodfellowe, journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumored to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh's missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the Wolfwalkers and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.

Greyhound, the WWII film starring Tom Hanks, also received two nominations that celebrate the sound and special effects work done on the project.

Inspired by real events, Captain Ernest Krause (Tom Hanks) leads an international convoy of 37 ships on a treacherous mission across The Atlantic to deliver thousands of soldiers and much-needed supplies to Allied forces. Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elisabeth Shue star alongside Hanks. The Apple Original film was directed by Aaron Schneider and produced by Gary Goetzman.

The nominations received for the 2021 BAFTA Awards are below:

  • Animated Film - Wolfwalkers
  • Sound - Greyhound, TBC
  • Special Visual Effects - Greyhound, Pete Bebb, Nathan Mcguinness, Sebastian Von Overheidt

Both Wolfwalkers and Greyhound are available to stream now on Apple TV+, which is best experienced with the Apple TV 4K.
