Haunted Hollow makes spooking competitive

Firaxis, best known for their work on the popular XCOM and Civilization games, are jumping into mobile with their first iPad title, Haunted Hollow. We checked it out at GDC 2013 with their publisher 2K, and it's shaping up to be really interesting.

Dungeon Hunter 4 hacking and slashing its way onto iOS this April

Iron Man 3 wasn't the only title Gameloft was showing off at GDC 2013; they also had Dungeon Hunter 4, which promises to be a great addition to their fantasy action-RPG family. Though the game remains free-to-play with optional in-app purchases for some items, Dungeon Hunter 4 has a greater focus single player campaign (while DH3 was more about quick-and-dirty arena matches).

Third Eye Crime - a unique mix of pathfinding gameplay and film noir

Third Eye Crime is a promising puzzle game for iOS that we got to spend some time playing at GDC 2013. Players have to guide a thief through a maze filled with security guards without getting caught. Sounds simple, right? Wait until you see how many guards there are later on in the game and how big their guns are. Luckily, your character can read minds, so you can see where guards have visibility, and around which corners they think you are.

Hands on with Tiny Troopers 2 for iOS at GDC 2012

Live from GDC Simon and I went hands-on with Chillingo's latest tile, Tiny Troopers 2. If you're familiar with the first game, the sequel brings you more of the same great stuff -- more gear, more guns, more machines, more mayhem. We're talking Humvee's with .50 caliber machine guns.

Check out the video up top and if you like what you see, Tiny Troopers 2 has just hit the App Store so go grab it now.

Icycle 2 takes nude bicycling and fish-kissing to a whole new level

The folks at Chillingo were showing off Icycle 2 at GDC 2013, and it broke my brain just a little. The game mechanics themselves are very simple; the controls are ultimately the most basic ones you could have for a platformer game. The real trip is in the art style and storyline.

GDC 2013 day one

The Game Developers Conference -- GDC -- got off to a slow if dignified start yesterday. The show floor doesn't open until later in the week but the workshops are well underway, and everyone from first time developers to seasoned producers are getting together, sharing what they know, and learning from each other.

Editor's desk: GDC bound!

I'm about to leave for San Francisco, California and the Game Developer Conference (GDC 2013). I certainly don't have to tell anyone here how great the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad are for gaming. Whether or not Apple "gets" gaming, they've enabled a lot of technology that a lot of developers have used to make great games. That's why, increasingly, iOS is a big deal in the gaming industry, and at events like GDC.

I'll be there along with our gaming editor Simon Sage, and Windows Phone Central's Paul Acevedo. Our goal at the show is to get a better idea of where mobile gaming is going in 2013, get a look at some upcoming titles, and do our very best to bring you all with us. As always, the official stuff will go up right here on iMore, Android Central, CrackBerry, and Windows Phone Central, and if you want the behind-the-scenes shenanigans, you should follow us on Twitter @reneritchie, @simonsage, and @segacon.

Editor's desk: Happy year of the water snake!

Gong Xi Fa Cai, Gong Hey Faat Choi, 恭禧發財! Happy year of the water snake! I spent most of my early twenties surrounded by Chinese culture, and spent many a Chinese New Year in China Town (or China block as it's probably better referred to in Montreal), on stage, taking part in the festivities and demonstrations. I even got to spend one in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The people, the food, the fireworks, and lion dancing, all if it holds a special place in my heart and my memories.

This year I'm going to get some Dim Sum, give out some red envelopes (hey, the new iPod nano fits perfectly in those!), and pay lots of respect to those who came before and have taught and given me so much. Then I'll probably watch a bunch of martial hero movies and blog the day away. Meanwhile...
