T-Mobile Q1 2013 earnings are out showing good numbers for iPhone 5 sales

T-Mobile has released their Q1 2013 earnings report, and it shows good news for the carrier on the iPhone front. The iPhone 5 only launched officially on April 12, yet T-Mobile reports that they have sold around 500,000 units to new and existing customers. Perhaps coincidentally, they're also reporting an uptake in net customer additions for the quarter, standing at 576,000.

T-Mobile USA says iPhone 5 gave them one of their biggest launch weekends ever

After announcing a strong first day of sales on Friday, T-Mobile USA has announced that the launch of the iPhone on their network has resulted in one of their biggest weekends ever. While declining to give specific numbers, T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert said that sales exceeded T-Mobile’s internal goals, and noted that there were lines outside of stores when the phone launched on Friday.

T-Mobile USA will offer free iPhone 5 to iPhone users switching from another carrier

T-Mobile USA is offering an iPhone 5 for free on activation when you switch from another carrier and trade in your current iPhone 4 or 4S. The offer is available through Father’s Day, June 16, and customers who take advantage of this deal will receive a $120 credit that can be put towards things like monthly payments, outstanding bills, or accessories.

T-Mobile carrier update coming this week to enable LTE on existing iPhones

While nearly two million people have brought iPhones onto T-Mobile's network despite the carrier not offering the iPhone until the 12th of April, they've been saddled with service that's not as good as it could have been. According to TmoNews, that's set to change on April 5th, when T-Mobile plans to push a carrier update to iPhones on the network that will bring official visual voicemail and MMS to such devices as well as enabling LTE access for unlocked iPhone 5 users.
