These new Nintendo bundles offer a great start to holiday shopping this year

Update: Pre-orders for the Purple and Silver New Nintendo 2DS XL (opens in new tab) are now available at Amazon!

Nintendo has a slate of new console bundles, games and more releasing just in time for the holiday season. Earlier today, the company announced a new version of its New Nintendo 2DS XL handheld console: a purple and silver model (opens in new tab) which comes with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed. Releasing on September 28, this version of the console will be priced at $149.99.

Along with its announcement came news that the current models of the console (Black/Turquoise (opens in new tab) and White/Orange (opens in new tab)) will be upgraded to also offer Mario Kart 7 pre-installed. Those versions of the New 2DS XL currently don't include any games at all, so that's a nice bonus which will become available on September 28 as well.

Also recently unveiled is the Mario Tennis Aces Nintendo Switch bundle, which features the Nintendo Switch console along with the games Mario Tennis Aces and 1-2-Switch for $360. It's exclusively available at Walmart and releases on September 5. Keeping in mind that one provides around $60 extra value, it's actually a pretty good deal as you're getting two games for the price of one.

As for games, Nintendo has revealed a few upgraded editions which you'll also be able to find at the end of September. Similar to last year's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Explorer's Edition (opens in new tab), these "starter packs" will feature a Nintendo Switch game along with a strategy guide for it. You'll be able to pick one up for Breath of the Wild (opens in new tab), Super Mario Odyssey (opens in new tab), and Splatoon 2 (opens in new tab), and best of all, they'll be sold at $59.99 — the regular price of the standalone standard game.

If Super Smash Bros Ultimate (opens in new tab) is on your radar, you might be interested in checking out its upcoming Special Edition which comes with a steelbook and an exclusive Pro Controller. The controller will also be available separately.

Though these bundles haven't been released just yet, you can place your pre-orders now and ensure you don't miss out. As Christmas nears, they could become harder and harder to find. Amazon also has stock of the NES Classic (opens in new tab) available currently.
