Imore App

What's on Rene's iPad right now!

Since there aren't a ton of iOS devices — like there are Android or smartwatches — the staff at iMore has traditionally shared our favorite apps instead. We didn't get to it at the end of last year, what with the best app awards and CES and all, so we decided to do it now, as a way to ring in the new year. Last week I shared what's on my iPhone for The Sweet Setup, so I'm going to focus on the iPad now. Here's my current iPad Air Home screen, and a few words on why I have it just exactly that way...

Getting 'Error downloading news' on the iMore for iPhone app? Here's what to do!

We've been trying to figure out what's going on with the iMore for iPhone app, but it looks like there's a bug that prevents the news feed - and strangely, only the news feed - from loading for some users, some of the time. It's a nasty bug, and we're still trying to figure it out, but in the meantime, here's how to get around it:

The iMore app now comes with added landscape support!

The all new iMore app for iOS 7 launched recently, and while the team worked incredibly hard to bring you all of the awesome there were a couple of bits that had to be left out. One such feature was a landscape viewing mode that we know a lot of you wanted, and the good news is with version 3.1, it's back!

The all new iMore for iOS 7 app is here! Download now!

When Apple introduced iOS 7 back at WWDC 2013, the new look and new experience forced a lot of developers to put their update plans on hold and scramble to rethink and redesign their apps to fit into the brave, bold new world. That's precisely what happened to us with the iMore for iPhone app. Rebuilt practically from scratch, iMore for iPhone 3.0 is now iOS 7 native in every sense of the word, and we can't wait for you to try it!

iMore for iOS 7 app coming soon!

Yes, we're working very, very hard on an updated iMore app for iOS 7. There's been a ton of work involved, redoing a lot of stuff to make it as iOS 7 cool as we know all of you - and all of us - want it to be. Trying to balance getting it done quickly with getting all the features we want into it is proving tricky, and we'll absolutely always revert to doing less, better, than doing more, faster. We have a very aggressive roadmap, and a ton of things we want to bring you in the iMore app, both now for iOS 7, and going forward. We really, truly want to make it the best app on your phone, and we won't stop until we get there.

Now, I don't want to tease a timeline yet, because there are way too many objects in motion to do that yet, but the redesign will be soon, more will follow, and hopefully you'll love it as much as we do.

Meanwhile, check out the photo up top, it shows the current working version, and let the team know what you think!

How to favorite and read articles offline with the iMore app for iPhone

The new iMore app for iPhone has tons of new features that makes keeping up with your favorite articles easier than ever. Aside from being able to now leave comments in-app and listen to and watch podcasts, you can also favorite articles quickly and easily.

Favorites serves two great purposes. One is that it acts as a holding place for all your favorite articles, allowing you to jump back to them any time you'd like. It also automatically saves them for offline reading, meaning you won't need an internet connection to read any articles you favorite. Don't have time to read a whole article now? Favorite it and jump back in whenever you'd like to finish, with or without an internet connection.
