Amazon Prime Day brings the first discount to the new Echo Show 5

The Amazon Echo Show 5 (opens in new tab) has only been on the market since last month, but it hasn't escaped the Prime Day price cuts. It has just received its first discounted, falling to just $49.99 today — a $40 savings. It's also available in a bundle with an Amazon Smart Plug (opens in new tab) for just $5 extra, which seems a no-brainer to me. The discounts apply to both colors, but these deals only available to Amazon Prime (opens in new tab) members.

In essence, the Echo Show 5 is a smaller (and more affordable) version of the Echo Show (opens in new tab). It has a 5.5-inch display with a front-facing camera, speakers, and a microphones for picking up your voice commands. It gives you access to all of Alexa's smarts from setting timers and alarms to playing music, controlling smart home tech, getting answers to questions, shopping, as well as the ability to use its screen for video calls and watching video content. The Android Central review of the Echo Show 5 resulted in a 'The Best' award being dished out and a recommendation to buy for pretty much anyone.
