  • Anker has announced the new PowerWave 2-in-1 Magnetic Stand Lite charger.
  • The new charger can power an iPhone 12 and AirPods wirelessly.

Anker has announced the new PowerWave 2-in-1 Magnetic Stand Lite, a device that can charge an iPhone 12 via MagSafe and a pair of AirPods at the same time.

Available for pre-order priced at $37.99, the new charger will go on sale on August 16 and only comes in white right now. There are rumors of a black version coming at some point in the future, though.

The main feature here is obviously the MagSafe capability that will charge an iPhone 12-era device via the magic of magnets, although it isn't real Magsafe — charging is limited to 7.5W rather than MagSafe's more impressive 15W. You can at least tilt the iPhone 40-degrees for easier viewing while charging and both portrait and landscape charging are supported.

Anker also says that you shouldn't use this thing with non-MagSafe cases, too.

Not compatible with non-MagSafe phone cases. Cases made of metal and attachments such as magnets, cards, keys, and pop grips will interfere with charging.

Below the iPhone charger is a place for putting AirPods and AirPods Pro. Wireless charging is supported there as well.

Unfortunately, Anker doesn't put a power adapter in the box, so you'll need to use your own. One rated at 18W or higher is recommended, so keep that in mind when you're costing this charger out.

This charger could be a great way to keep an iPhone and your AirPods powered while at your desk and the price is compelling, even when you consider you'll need to use a power adapter of your own.
