What you need to know

  • Snapchat is down right now.
  • Spikes on Downdetector indicate a major outage.
  • It's unclear what the issue is.

Major spikes on Downdetector and iMore's Snapchat login errors page indicate the service is experiencing an outage right now.

Downdetector in both the UK and the U.S. indicate a very large spike in reported problems with the popular platform this morning, with issues split between login issues, connection, and the app itself.

Snapchat has not yet acknowledged the outage or given any update as to what might be happening, or when the problem might be resolved. Outages on Downdetector are also being reported in Canada, Australia, and in Europe, suggesting this is a global issue.

Snapchat is one of the best iPhone apps for communication especially between young people. Recently the company announced that it had overcome changes to privacy made by Apple in iOS 14 earlier than expected, causing the company's shares to rocket some 52 percent.
