Google+ with full-resolution photo uploads for iOS 7 now available

Google promised it, and now the update to Google+ that brings full resolution photo backups to the iPhone is live in the App Store. Full resolution videos are also supported, but only on iOS 7. The rest of the changelog:

  • Updated design for the notification tray
  • Share your location, see where your friends are, control who is displayed on the map
  • Translate posts and comments inline
  • Additional bug fixes and performance improvements

Google announced full resolution photo uploads for the iPhone and iPad at a special event in October. It's a feature that has been present in the Android Google+ client for some time, but we'll take late rather than never every time. Google is really beginning to push photos through Google+ and Snapseed of late providing a pretty compelling product.

We've already considered how well the new Google+ will stack up against some of the main competition, but now it's here, will you be using it?

Do people use Google+ that much? My circle of friends, family, and colleagues don't use it that much.

There are a lot of privacy concerns I have started having recently with Google's ever evolving terms and conditions so will not be using this. Also, none of my immediate circle uses google+ much

I'm glad that it updated, but I would rather use a social network created by Apple. Let Apple recreate and revolutionize the way we socialize in the digital world. Now that would be exciting.

I use Google+ for photo sharing and storage. It's a fantastic service and I'm happy to see it fully functional now on the iPhone!

Been on plus from the beginning but still only have a few friends not to excited about this update at all hope this isn't an attempt at a Google takeover

This new feature comes right on the heals of Everpix being shut down, so a good alternative for those people. But, there is still the privacy issue that many are still concerned about.

I use G+ as my main blogging platform and photo backup so this update is greatly appreciated.

Interesting. One of the main drawbacks mentioned in the previous article was Google+ scaling the resolution down of the images uploaded. Now that this limitation has been lifted, I'm seriously considering transferring all my photos to Google+ from Flicker as I don't think I'll even be able to reach the 15gb and I'm trying to keep the number of logins accounts I have to a minimum.

I know most people like to hate on G+ but I actually like the service. It is better than what Facebook has become and less of the stupidity as well.

I am glad to see Google Plus getting updates and attention that's on par with Android. Now all we need is a share button on Safari for Google Plus.

Love the all new design! Easy to use, the timeline looks amazing and gets me where I need my information displayed.

I use Google+ as a secondary photo backup to Dropbox (and now Flickr) so that's great news. With so many sources these days, it's definitely nice not to have to worry about losing even the image quality of your photos if something happens to your phone!
