The eBay app for iPad has been updated making it easier for shoppers to browse and discover new items to shop for. There is now a new Today page that displays items curated by eBay staff, and the page adds new swipe and touch gestures to browse and explore. With version 3.4, eBay promises an experience that leans more on visuals with bigger pictures, better item suggestions, and discovery features.

eBay will spin off its online payment division PayPal into its own separate, and publicly traded, company sometime in the second half of 2015. eBay claims that keeping PayPal around beyond 2015 "clearly becomes less advantageous to each business strategically and competitively."

eBay has announced today that users of the popular service should change their passwords immediately due to a cyber attack that compromised a database containing encrypted passwords. A press release sent out by the company stresses that only non-financial data was affected.

The official eBay app for iPhone just got a nice update that brings a UI refresh to the online auction service. The bump up to version 3.0 adds a general refresh to most areas of the app, and improves photos in listings making them now much larger and better looking. Photos also now look larger in search results at the tap of a button, though iOS 6 and above is required for this.
