Spend your weekend on the couch with $5 movies from iTunes
By John Levite last updated

The iTunes Movie Store has tons of movies on sale for just $5 right now. The movies span several decades, going as far back as the 1960s, and cover every genre from drama to science fiction. This is a limited time deal that will probably be gone by the end of the weekend.
The full list of movies is available here (opens in new tab) in the banners along the top. Each decade gets its own menu filled with $5 movies. Here's a list with just a few of the possibilities available, starting with the older movies first:
- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (opens in new tab)
- Lawrence of Arabia (opens in new tab)
- Apocalypse Now (opens in new tab)
- Rocky (opens in new tab)
- Ghostbusters (opens in new tab)
- The Breakfast Club (opens in new tab)
- Platoon (opens in new tab)
- Back to the Future (opens in new tab)
- The Big Lebowski (opens in new tab)
- The Silence of the Lambs (opens in new tab)
- Fight Club (opens in new tab)
- Almost Famous (opens in new tab)
- District 9 (opens in new tab)
- The Simpsons Movie (opens in new tab)
- Sideways (opens in new tab)
One of the nice things about this movie sale is that there isn't a lot of overlap with the iTunes movie bundles Thrifter posted about a few days ago, so you could go with one of those bundles if they're more to your liking AND buy an individual movie from this sale.

J.D. Levite has been in the deals game since 2012. He has posted daily deals at Gizmodo, The Wirecutter, The Sweethome, and now for Thrifter. He was there for the first Prime Day and has braved the full force of Black Friday. If you cut him, he bleeds savings. But don't try it for real. That's a metaphor.
