Apple releases iOS 6.1.5 for iPod touch 4, also fixes FaceTime call bug

Apple releases iOS 6.1.5 for iPod touch 4, also fixes FaceTime call bug

While pretty much every other iOS device released since 2010 is getting iOS 7.0.4, the not-qualified iPod touch 4 is getting the same FaceTime call bug fix but in retro iOS 6.1.5 form (2010 original iPad had not camera, so no FaceTime).

And no, even if iOS 7 still hasn't won you over, you can't jam this update onto your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch 5. Sorry.

You can grab it by going to General > Settings > Software Update on your 4th generation iPod touch, or by hooking up to iTunes over USB and hitting check for updates in iTunes. Let me know how it works for you!

Updated iPad Air and it feels snappier, less buggy. Also I notices that it freed up a good chunk of space (approx. 500MB).

This is why Apple is a great company. Many companies would not have released an update for an old OS even though they still sell the product.

They may not sell it new directly, but they do still sell it refurbished and you can purchase it new in retail stores.

Install went quick enough. Nothing of note for me yet. Of course my iPhone 5s was running pretty flawlessly already.

I wish they fixed the bug with the random reboots especially when opening the music app

I'm honestly surprised that continuing support for pre-OS 7 is around. That's kind of customer consideration is like a warm cup-o-cocoa on a chilly day.

Anyone having problems with touchscreen since ios 7 update? It's not as responsive as it should. When I'm typing I hear the click for the letter I hit but it don't type it. This happens ALL THE TIME. For example, it happened 5 times just in typing this comment. I've contacted Apple and they say they haven't heard anyone else having problems. Thought it might been my iPad 4, just got the iPad air and it still happens. The exact same way as before. It's very frustrating. I was hoping it wouldn't continue with my iPad Air but no such luck! Even the Pogo stylus I have don't work. It's worked on my old iPad 2, 3 and the iPad

UPDATE-it happened 3 more times before end of posting comment.

Rally happy to see that apple still shows some love to my iPod 4th gen! It's nice to know that the company cares about their devices that aren't the latest and greatest anymore.

Can I please reinstall iOS 6.1.5 on my iPad 3? Moving on to the iPad Air I'm enjoying iOS 7 but at the present moment iOS7 wasn't the best upgrade for "the new iPad".

I didn't think that was possible. Maybe they will make an update that brings the smoothness back to the IPod 4th generation.

Glad I can give my iPod 4 a little update lovin. And I seriously was wondering why the heck my iPad would call my friend on FT, but I wouldn't hear the ringer, then I would cancel it, and then I would do it again and after a few it would say call failed (weird!) and then the 3rd time it would work. Hopefully this is the fix for it. Because I hadn't done anything unusual with any devices. Maybe I was going insane or something. Hehe. But I miss iOS 6.1.3 on my iPhone 4...waaaaaah, didn't save my shsh blobs. Blah!

It's good that they're still supporting the older device. My wife has an iPod Touch 4 that we haven't really used since she got her own iPhone. Might fire it up to do this update and play around with iOS 6 again.

I'm glad they did this. Because it is things like this that says: "We care about you, our customer base.". In other words: "Good Customer Service".
Note: The last quote is just to make it stand out.

No reboot crashes since the update on my iPad Air. Interestingly, an update on my iPod Touch took just as long as the OTA update on my iPad Air. I expected the hardwire connection to be faster.

It's good to see they haven't completely forgotten about the iPod touch 4G. Glad I didn't buy one though. I came close but I decided I would just save up for an iPhone instead. Now I can experience the joys of iOS7.

Surely DID NOT FIX messaging! Still cant send pics thru a group msg, must send one at a time from messaging app. Sent 5 pics to a friend yest, because thats the max for one message, then had to wait 3 hours before sending 3 more...all the app does is keep crashing!!!!!!! IMessage rarely works to start convo w/fiancé always reverts to text message then will pick back up on iMessage. Fix this Apple! Total BS! I have a iphone5 64gb Att. Newest update on 11/14/13
