Best run and walk tracking app for iPhone

Walking and running are hugely popular ways to exercise, and there are several really good iPhone apps that aim to help you keep track of the walking or running you're doing. Since February is Fitness Month at iMore and Mobile Nations, we took a look at the most popular ones, and figured out which one was the best for most people.

That app is Endomondo Pro, and here's why we picked it.

It's Fitness Month here at iMore and Mobile Nations and this week's focus is on exercise. We've already taken a look at the hardcore bootcamp app P90X, so this time we're going to take a look at an app for a gentler workout approach: Yoga Studio.

Mailbox for iPhone aims to reinvent the way you manage your inbox

Mailbox for iPhone is a brand new email app that's primary purpose is to let you focus on the messages that matter right now and store away the ones that don't. The Mailbox project seems to draw inspiration from both task management philosophies like Getting Things Done, and email management philosophies like Inbox Zero. Through a list of gestures, swipes, and taps, you quickly filter through emails and drill down to the content that matters right that minute, without being distracted by the rest.

Track your weight loss with Monitor Your Weight for iPhone and iPad

It's Fitness Month here at iMore and Mobile Nations and for many of us, that means weight loss. For the past couple weeks, I've been on the hunt for an app dedicated to tracking my weight, and it was no easy task. Before the iPhone 5, Weightbot was my go to weight-tracking app, but since Tapbots has not updated Weightbot to support the iPhone 5, I'm ready to move on to an app that does. After searching high and low, I've settled on Monitor Your Weight.

Apple's request for import ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus rejected

Apple failed in its effort to get an import ban on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. A U.S. appeals court rejected Apple’s request after revisiting an October decision by the same court. Apple had been hoping that the new panel of judges would overturn the earlier ruling.

Best forum browsing app for iPhone and iPad

Forums are a super popular way for like minded people to gather and discuss topics that interest them. We have the iMore forums and many other communities have forum boards as well. If you own an iPhone or iPad and actively participate in forum communities, regardless of type, there are apps available in the App Store to help you do it on the go.

We took a look at all the forum apps we could find and Tapatalk 2 for iPhone and Tapatalk HD for iPad by Quoord Systems are the best around when it comes to hooking into forums from any iOS device. Here's why...

Twitter's new Vine video sharing has a lot of potential, still needs a lot of work

Earlier today Twitter launched a new service and app named Vine. It was a purchase rather than something homegrown, and sits mostly on its own. I'd be tempted to explain the relationship of Twitter and Vine in similar terms to Facebook and Instagram, but frankly Vine is nowhere nearly as good yet.

Phil Nickinson from Android Central has already shared his thoughts on Vine. Here are mine.

Best calendar app for iPhone

While the default Calendar app for iPhone can get the job done, the interface leaves a lot to be desired. At the end of the day, a calendar app should be powerful, but still allow you to enter and find appointments as quickly and easily as possible. It's a balancing act. But which one is the best balance?

We've taken a look at a lot of the most popular alternative calendar apps for iPhone including, Week Cal, Calvetica, and many more. After testing all of them out, we believe Fantastical by Flexibits is the best choice for most iPhone users. Here's why...

Kaleidoscope 2 for Mac lets you quickly, powerfully find and merge differences in text, code, and images

Kaleidoscope 2 from Black Pixel lets you take code, text, images, and even folders and quickly, clearly see the differences between multiple versions. While that sounds simple in theory, it's not. Making differential data make sense, doing it in a way that's useful and actionable, and packaging it in an app built for people who build apps, well, that requires some serious kung-fu.
