Apple Store app for iPhone now notifies you when you're ready for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone

The Apple Store app for iPhone has been updated with a handy little feature that will notify you when you're eligible for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone. You can even buy your new iPhone directly with the app after receiving the notification since all you need is your Apple ID credentials to do so.

Apple Store iPhone app updated, claims to let you email gift cards [UPDATED]

The Apple Store app for iPhone has been updated and supposedly allows users to buy gift cards and have them emailed to the recipients. We must be blind and clueless, because no one at iMore can actually figure out how to do this. The update notes also claim that these gift cards can be used with Passbook, but the only type of gift cards we can find are for iTunes, the App Store, and the iBookstore; it doesn't make sense to use Passbook for any of these stores. Apple Store gift cards, however, would be awesome with Passbook -- too bad they are nowhere to be found.

You can now choose to have iWork software preinstalled on your Mac via Apple Store app

The Apple Store app for iOS has been updated with the option to have Pages, Keynote, and Numbers pre-installed on any MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, or Mac Pro. When you order your new Mac you can choose to have the software installed prior to you receiving the computer.

Apple Store app updated [Update: US and Europe only]

Apple's Apple Store app has been updated to version 1.3 and brings with it some new features... even if it's still iPhone only.

Enhanced in-store mode lets you get help and support quickly when you’re at an Apple Retail Store.

The ability to custom-configure a new Mac with the options you want.

Unfortunately, they didn't update the icon. Let's hope a universal version is on its way. More screenshots after the break, and if you customize yourself a new Mac with the Apple Store app, let us know how it works for you.
