Apple is giving away a holiday playlist from the Apple Store app for iPhone. Called Holiday Cheer, the playlist consists of eight holiday classics including Silent Night, Joy to the World, and Silent Night. Artists include Kelly Clarkson, Nick Lowe, and Mary J Blige.
The Apple Store app has given you a way to shop on the online Apple Store, but up until now it's been strictly for the iPhone. Now Apple has released an app that runs natively on the iPad. This isn't just the iPhone app made bigger - it's a completely new app with features specific to the iPad version, like bigger images and interactive elements to help you select the product that's right for you. You can find items exclusive to the Apple Store, compare products in similar categories and enable pickup at any Apple retail store location.
A year ago almost to the day, the Apple Store app for iPhone added support for Passbook integrated Apple Store gift cards that you could buy and send via email. Apple has now pushed an update to the app that adds the feature for some new countries, including the UK, Canada and Australia. Perfect for that long distance holiday gift.
The Apple Store app for iOS is set to receive a revamp as soon as next week, with a slight interface change and for the first time, free iTunes content will be offered in this app. The update is reportedly in line with Tim Cook's plans to try and push more iPhone sales through Apple Retail, and is also set to be part of a new initiative in retail stores. From 9to5Mac:
The Apple Store app for iPhone has been updated with a handy little feature that will notify you when you're eligible for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone. You can even buy your new iPhone directly with the app after receiving the notification since all you need is your Apple ID credentials to do so.
With Siri, you can shop for anything Apple right from your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or iPad mini. Get product info, pricing, and more with the Apple Store app, the press of a button, and the sound of your voice.
The Apple Store app for iPhone has been updated and supposedly allows users to buy gift cards and have them emailed to the recipients. We must be blind and clueless, because no one at iMore can actually figure out how to do this. The update notes also claim that these gift cards can be used with Passbook, but the only type of gift cards we can find are for iTunes, the App Store, and the iBookstore; it doesn't make sense to use Passbook for any of these stores. Apple Store gift cards, however, would be awesome with Passbook -- too bad they are nowhere to be found.
The Apple Store app for iOS has been updated with the option to have Pages, Keynote, and Numbers pre-installed on any MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, or Mac Pro. When you order your new Mac you can choose to have the software installed prior to you receiving the computer.
