Purported iPad 5 case again points to iPad mini-like design

A photograph of a purported iPad 5 case has appeared, and it again points to a redesigned in the form of the iPad mini. The case was obtained by 9to5Mac, apparently from it's manufacturer, Minisuit. Back in January, iMore created a rendering based on what we'd learned about the iPad 5 and its iPad mini-like design, and shortly thereafter some unverified pictures emerged of a supposed iPad 5 back plate bearing a very similar design. Just over a week ago, iMore created another rendering based on more information about the iPad 5.

Opera, the company behind the Opera mini web browser for iPhone and iPad is now working on a new browser which it is calling “Ice”. The new browser will use WebKit and was shown off at an internal meeting just before Christmas.

Of course Apple is already working on a new iPad mini with a higher resolution screen, and a full-sized iPad that will be thinner. Apple is always working on better, next generation versions of their devices. However, if you want to scratch "supposedly said so by sources in the supply-chain" off your rumor list, now you can.

The Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of the iPad mini and iPad 4, which include LTE, are available for purchase at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and other U.S. retail stores from today. Quantities are likely very limited, so if you want one, you will have to be quick.

Later today, Apple will hold a keynote where we expect to hear all about the new iPhone 5. One of the rumored changes that Apple should announce is the new mini dock connector which takes the place of the current 30 pin connector that has been on all iOS devices since 2007. The new 9 pin dock connector will supposedly be known as the “Lightning” connector according to a report from 9 to 5 Mac.

The iPad mini rumors will not go away and today's story centers around where it will actually be manufactured. According to a "Chinese reliable source", the iPad mini will be produced solely in Brazil. It is thought that all of the tooling and design work has already been carried out in China.

7-inch iPad a reality by this Christmas?

IDG News has translated a Economic Daily News report that is claiming that we should expect a 7" iPad by Christmas of this year.
