Sprint has announced that it has signed a direct roaming deal with the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA). This will allow Sprint subscribers to easily roam inside Cuba, though the company doesn't mention whether roaming in Cuba will be covered under its Global Roaming or Open World plans.
"As the commercial relationship between the U.S. and Cuba continues to progress, it is expected that the number of travelers to Cuba will increase exponentially," said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure. "We want to make sure any Sprint customer traveling to Cuba can use their phone the same way as they do in the United States."
Sprint hasn't announced any specific plans for roaming in Cuba just yet. The carrier says they will announce details and availability at a later date.
