Halfbrick launches Fruit Ninja's "Arcade Mode"

Fruit Ninja is one of the most popular iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad games in the App Store. Up until now, on the menu select screen, there has been a mysterious banana-shaped mode, marked as "coming soon". Well soon is now and Halfbrick have finally revealed "Arcade Mode" -- 60 seconds, 3 power ups,

Double Points – This banana will award you double points for a short period of time. Criticals and combos count too, so rack up those fruit for some massive scores!

Frenzy – If you’re not content with the amount of fruit on screen, the Frenzy banana will take care of that. A mammoth amount of fruit will begin flying in, but you have to stay focused to slice it all!

Freeze – The entire screen will slow down, allowing for maximum accuracy and combo potential!

The Fruit Ninja update is available in the App Store now.

Video after the break and if you try Arcade Mode, let us know what you think!

Sesame Street sings: There's an app for that!

What would be better than our favourite muppet friends from Sesame Street singing -- There's an app for that. You may have noticed a few weeks ago all of the TiPb staff were "muppetised". We weren't invited to sing along, but if all of you channel your inner child, maybe sing a few tunes with us? I think Steve Jobs would be proud.

I hope the video brings a smile to your day as it did mine. Do you have a favourite muppet memory, please share with us in the comments below!

Evil Dead iPhone app coming soon to app store

Sam Raimi's horror cult classic, Evil Dead, is coming to the iPhone. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Evil Dead is the first of three films starring Bruce Campbell and revolves around a group of college kids who visit an abandoned cabin in the woods only to unleash pure evil.

Currently there is not much in the way of details about the game except for the fact the characters look like Wii bobble-head avatars. A trailer has been released and if the game turns out anything like the trailer, expect to have a very polished iOS game. As a nice touch, the developer pretty much matched the game trailer with Evil Dead's original trailer and is very well done. View both trailers after the break!

Flash-playing Skyfire browser coming to iPhone this Thursday

After 2 months of waiting in review with Apple, the new Skyfire mobile browser will be approved and available in the App Store for iPhone and iPad at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday for just $2.99. From CNN Money:

To get around Apple's restriction, Skyfire came up with an innovative solution: When users click on a page that contains Flash video, Skyfire's servers download, render and translate the video into HTML 5, which is a Web standard that iOS devices support. Skyfire then displays a thumbnail that users can click on to stream the video from its servers.

"We will attack those pesky blue Flash error messages," said Jeffrey Glueck, Skyfire's CEO.
