While Nuance can't comment about any relationship with Apple, it's widely believed their technology powers the voice recognition and dictation behind Siri, the iPhone 4S artificial assistant. It also powers several of their own apps in the iPhone and iPad App Store, including the industry leading Dragon Dictation and the new Dragon Go.

Nuance Responds to Dragon Dictation for iPhone Privacy Concerns

Nuance's Dragon Dictation for iPhone raised some privacy concerns upon launch due to the server-side nature of its transcription and the apparent transmission of users' contact list to Nuance's servers. Addressing at least some of these concerns, Nuance has posted the following statement:

Dragon Dictation [Free - iTunes link] brings the voice recognition and transcription technology behind Nuance's well known Dragon Naturally Speaking to the iPhone (and iPod touch with mic attached. Apparently, per comments below, it won't allow download to iPod touch (?!) ).
