Pocket offers new subscription service with permanent content library

Read-it-later app Pocket is introducing a new premium service. Pocket Premium introduces several features, including Permanent Library, global search, and Suggested Tags. The service costs $4.99 per month, or $44.99 for the year, and comes as a part of the most recent update to Pocket's apps for iOS and Android.

What's on Ally's iPhone right now!

We've already decided on our best apps of 2013 but we still want you to know our most personal ones — the apps we have given primetime spots on our Home screens. Rene's already shared his iPad Air setup so now I'm going to share what's on my iPhone 5s, at least for right now. See, the first page of my Home screen rarely ever stays the same for more than a few weeks. I switch apps based on what I need and like at the time. There are a few staples, however, that might get shuffled but never get bumped. Here they are!

Pocket, the popular save-for-later service, has a new version of its app for iPhone and iPad available for download. Pocket 5.0 is a "smarter Pocket," according to the developers, and it adds key new features like Highlights and Pocket Preferences.

ReadKit for Mac keeps your reading together in one fast, stylish place

The Google Reader apocalypse sent many of us scrambling for replacements on both our iOS devices and our Macs. Some of the more popular options, such as Reeder, haven't updated in time for the Mac, or perhaps our new RSS service of choice isn't supported by our most used application. The scramble settled, eventually, and I found myself on Newsblur which then lead me to ReadKit for Mac. ReadKit goes far beyond just RSS, though, it'll pull in most of the popular reading services too. Let's take a look.

GDC 2013 day one

The Game Developers Conference -- GDC -- got off to a slow if dignified start yesterday. The show floor doesn't open until later in the week but the workshops are well underway, and everyone from first time developers to seasoned producers are getting together, sharing what they know, and learning from each other.
