New Apple Time Capsules to cache iOS software updates?

9to5Mac is hearing that new Time Capsules -- the Airport Extreme and hard drive in one -- are on the way that might just be smart enough to download and cache iOS (and Mac) software updates for you, so they're waiting when you're ready.

What we do know is that Apple has been internally testing Time Capsules to cache Software Updates for both Mac and iOS devices. The way we’ve heard it works is that the new Time Capsule learns which devices connect to it via Wifi. It then goes out to Apple’s servers and downloads Software Updates for those products.

Steve Jobs to Keynote WWDC 2011... or not? [updated]

According to GigaOm, Apple has confirmed Steve Jobs will be giving the Keynote presentation at WWDC 2011, despite being on limited duty during his third medical leave. For the last 3 years, Apple has introduced new iPhone hardware (from the iPhone 3G to last year's iPhone 4 at WWDC, however, unofficial word is that there'll be no new iPhone until the fall this year. Since, also unlike previous years, there was no iOS preview event this spring, an iOS 5 announcement and probable beta release will likely be our high point. (There will no doubt also be Mac OS X Lion news as well.)

WWDC 2011 ticket for sale on EBAY

Yesterday, WWDC 2011 sold out in a record 10 hours and now one of those tickets has popped up on EBAY with a Buy It Now price of $3,500. That's $1901 more than the original $1,599 price set by Apple. The seller claims that this ticket was purchased for a colleague who ended up not being able to make the event.

We expect Apple will put an end to this auction in a heartbeat. The last thing Apple wants is for people to snatch up tickets and turn them over for a profit.

What do you think? Are you angry at this dev for trying to make a buck off this "extra" ticket?
