Amazon's July First Reads gets your hands on new books before anyone else for free

There are plenty of well-known benefits of having an Amazon Prime membership, especially with Prime Day coming up soon, but one you may not have heard about before is the Amazon First Reads (opens in new tab) program. Every month, Amazon's publishing editors choose a handful of yet-to-be-released books from various genres and make them exclusively available to Amazon customers before anyone else! Prime members get the best end of the bargain here, as they're allowed to add two of the books to their Kindle e-book library each month free of charge. If you're not a Prime member, you can still snag the book of your choice, though it'll cost you $1.99 for the Kindle version or up to $9.99 for a hardback copy.
You can even start a free 30-day trial (opens in new tab) of Amazon Prime to snag two of these books for free; plus, that'll make your account eligible for all the exclusive Prime Day deals popping up this month.
Amazon First Reads for July (opens in new tab)
Every month, Amazon spotlights a selection of unreleased books from various genres and gives Prime members free access to check them out before anyone else.
Just like all Kindle e-books, Amazon First Reads can be read on your Kindle (opens in new tab) e-reader or using the free Kindle app (opens in new tab) that's available on devices like smartphones, tablets, and more. Not sure which Kindle to pick? Amazon has a guide (opens in new tab) to help you choose between the various models.
This July, Amazon has eight First Reads titles for you to choose from, including:
- A Fire Sparkling (opens in new tab) by Julianne MacLean
- What You Did (opens in new tab) by Claire McGowan
- Forgotten Bones (opens in new tab) by Vivian Barz
- Relative Fortunes (opens in new tab) by Marlowe Benn
- The Boy Between Worlds (opens in new tab) by Annejet van der Zijl
- Pirates Don't Go to Kindergarten! (opens in new tab) by Lisa Robinson
- They Could Have Named Her Anything (opens in new tab) by Stephanie Jimenez
- Prognosis: A Memoir of My Brain (opens in new tab) by Sarah Vallance
After making your selection, be sure to visit our Prime Day hub to scour for more exclusive offers like three months of Kindle Unlimited for free.
