AT&T announces 1 million iPhone 4S activations

AT&T announced today that they've activated 1 million iPhone 4S on their network as of Tuesday, October 18, the most successful launch in their history. Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO of AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets thinks it's part of his network's GSM/HSPA+ advantage.
It’s no surprise that customers are clamoring for iPhone 4S and they want it to run on a network that lets them download twice as fast as competitors'
AT&T also singles out simultaneous voice and 3G data as a differentiator, something Sprint and Verizon can't do with their CDMA/EV-DO rev-A technology.
iPhone 4S went on sale Friday, October 14. Apple previously announced 4 million iPhone 4S sales as of Monday.

LOL at "SPRING and Verizon"
i know. everyone should believe in spell check... it just works

I was going to make fun of them for that typo, too, but not because of a lack of spell-checking. iOS is notorious for "helping" users by changing "Sprint" to "Spring.". There are other more hilarious, and some times more unfortunate, examples.

I actually think all of the hatred towards AT&T may be a thing of the past. I used to drop a call here and there with my iPhone 4, but have yet to drop a call yet on my 4S. Perhaps it was Apple's antenna design all along?

Despite having some issues with AT&T in the past, I have to say that since getting my iPhone 4S on Friday, it's worked both fast and flawlessly on AT&T both for voice and data. I couldn't be more pleased with both the device and the service so far.

Guss my brain saw it like this since I preordered 10-08 and still have not received my phone.

I'm still waiting for my money from the iPhone 4 to enter my account so I can be a part of the million! I've never had a problem with AT&T.

Every carrier has coverage/performance issues in some limited areas. AT&T seems to have made some very major investments in coverage even in my very rural area. overall, I still prefer GSM and have worked with AT&T patiently. If one lives in a location with poor indoor coverage a microcell or booster works. I use both.

And probably another million they've sold but couldn't activate yet.

I was with AT&T for 2 years with the 3GS and have switched to Verizon with the 4S. The difference is remarkable. While I can't do data/voice at the same time (literally did that maybe once or twice in two years), I do actually get service in my house and at work. AT&T's coverage is still absolutely terrible where I am (southwest US). Regardless of the "double the speeds" claim, you have to have a signal first.
Just think if Apple would have thrown an LTE radio in there it would have been able to do date and voice on Verizon, but a hell of a lot faster.
1 Million? In what country? ( still waiting)
