C-Spire getting iPhone 4S on Nov. 11, unlimited "non-streaming" data

Regional US carrier, C-Spire is officially getting the iPhone 4S on Nov. 11.

As a carrier dedicated to delivering the best personalized wireless experience, we’re proud to offer the amazing new iPhone 4S to our customers,” said Hu Meena, president and chief executive officer for C Spire. “iPhone 4S offers an abundance of new features, and with our Choice Infinite data plans customers can enjoy all of them on our network without having to think about their next bill.

So yes to "unlimited data" but with a caveat: The lower end "unlimited plans" do not include streaming data. So if you don't pony up for a higher-end plan, no Pandora for you.

Otherwise, what do you think? Planning to get your first iPhone on C-Spire? Planning to switch?

Wish they had C-Spire in my area. I like that you can save a ton of money by only getting "limited streaming". It looks like you have unlimited data, but can only stream for 30 minutes a month on the cheaper plans. I wish Verizon offered this....

  2. Stephen Hill says:

I'm not sure I understand exactly how they can stop you from streaming? Deep packet inspection to see what they are for?

    • Anonymous says:

I imagine they would track RSTP and HTTP live streaming requests or whatever streaming requests are out there and will refuse, throttle or charge as they see fit.

  3. Trey says:

Cspire picks up mostly anywhere, I love their phones, can't wait until November 11th.

    • N8 says:

Who are you fooling? I had two different android's and never had enough service to do anything let alone make a simple phone call. Verizon treats me better than any c spire rep and I have better coverage.

  4. Guest says:

Streaming is the main reason i want a data plan at all, in which case, sprint is still cheaper

  5. SNOWBOARDER says:

i should of went with this i have never heard of them

  6. Tojasonhoo says:

In the fine print their website says 50% of all your usage has to be on their network. Their coverage map is pretty broad. I wonder if they share towers with other carriers and would stick you with hidden fees.

    • N8 says:

Their network is defined as being in Mississippi, Memphis, and random spots in Florida. Anything else is "partner" networks.

  7. N8 says:

I forfeited a company paid phone service to get away from c spire. Switched to Verizon and I've been happy ever since.

Funny, all these detractors. I've been with Cellular South, now CSpire, since 1995. Haven't had reason yet to change networks, and I'm always opento a better deal.
