The 3rd generation Apple TV (A1427) launched alongside the iPad 3 in in March of 2012. It supports 1080p video and Bluetooth keyboards. Other than that, it's very similar in size and specs to the 2nd generation Apple TV. Still, the tiny box packs a wallop. It has easy HDMI connectivity for your living room LCD or Plasma HDTV, and super simple steaming directly from the iTunes Store and your home iTunes library, and Internet access to podcasts, YouTube, Netflix, and other "channels" including sports like MLB, news like Bloomberg, and speciality fare like Crunchy Roll. With AirPlay you can also stream media and mirror the screen right from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
In early 2013 Apple released a slight update to the 3rd generation Apple TV (A1469), giving a new, dedicated version of the Apple A5 chipset.
