WeeMee Avatar Creator from WeeWorld [$0.99 - iTunes Link]. The application allows you to make your an avatar for yourself and your friends. Select various hairstyles, clothing, accessories, over 250 choices in all. Then you can use these avatars for your address book, Facebook, Twitter, MMS or just to email to friends.

I had so much fun using this application that I forgot that I was testing out the app. (It would also keep your children entertained as the controls are simple to use.)

You choose a male or female WeeMee and then you can select the head shape, eyes and mouth, eye color, clothing, background etc. Select the item type at the top of the screen and then just swipe through the choices till you find the one you want.

The Gallery view helps maintain all your WeeMee's and you can choose to export or edit your saved WeeMee's.

What you get is all of recipes from Martha's Everyday Food magazine in one app. Daily easy dinner selection's make the hassle of choosing what to eat each a little easier. The search tool can be organized by ingredients, manner of cooking and holiday. You can also share your favorite recipes with your friends.

The SmrtCase Glide for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS is a hard case shell that will protect your phone from scrapes, bumps, and even small to medium falls (depending on the angle of impact). The really innovative part of the case is that it has a small slot on the side where you can store a credit card, bus passe, ID, business cards, or even small pictures.

And I won't lie -- I'm loving it. It's great to be back. All the other platforms have their strengths and highlight a few of Apple's remaining weaknesses, and this is the first year I can honestly say that if there was no iPhone I could find a device on each and every one of them to live and work with. The iPhone, however, remains for me the most fully realized, most user friendly, most consistent, most convergent device on the market.

What has my time away taught me? What have I learned to appreciate more about the iPhone, and what have I come away wishing Apple would straight out steal from the other platforms?

I've already reviewed the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3.x OS before, but now I'm going to take a broader, wiser, look at it again -- and I'm going to do it after the break.
