The iPhone could have gone by a number of other names, according to former Apple advertising lead Ken Segall. Segall, at an event at the University of Arizona, listed several alternative names for the iPhone that Apple was mulling around, and the reasoning behind each of them. Those names were “Mobi”, “Tripod”, “Telepod”, and “iPad”. Of these possible names, Segall revealed that “Tripod” was under serious consideration for a while. 9to5Mac reports:

HTC announced the HTC One last week which is its latest flagship device running on the Android operating system. It appears that HTC believes it can pull current iPhone users away from iOS and onto android with its latest device and it is going all out to help people do just that by releasing software that can access an iPhone’s backup file. According to CNET Asia, HTC will soon be releasing an update to its desktop Sync Manager software that will have the ability to open up an iPhone’s backup file that has been created through an iTunes backup.

Well known accessory manufacturer Mophie has announced its latest accessory for the iPhone 5. The Mophie Juice Pack Air is the second iPhone 5 accessory to offer prolonged usage by packing an additional battery into a small form case specifically for the iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 launched back in September 2012 and in smartphones, half a year can be a long time. Since then we've seen the Google LG Nexus 4 launch, the Nokia Lumia 920 hit, the BlackBerry Z10 start to roll out internationally, and now the new king of the spec sheet, the announcement of the all-new HTC One.

Oh, internet. It seems like only last year the iPhone 5's design was decried as boring and lacking innovation, but fast forward to now, and the BlackBerry Z10 and HTC One (or at least a supposed render) stand accused of being too iPhone 5-like in their design. We just want to hate on everything, don't we?
