The Moogies for iPhone and iPad [Kids Corner]

The Moogies is an iPhone and iPad app targeted for children aged 2-6. A Moogie is a silly colorful character that your child can "call" and babble with. There are 9 different Moogies, each with their own personality.

Say hi to The Moogies, the crazy, comical, colorful characters that are here to keep kids aged 2-6 entertained. Kids can make a phone call to any of the nine Moogies and listen as they talk back in their delightfully silly babble language. Touch objects on screen and watch the unexpected, and sometimes hilarious results as they interact with each Moogie. Bright, beautiful, fun and funny, The Moogies is the perfect kids game.

A MOOGIE IS A KIDS BEST FRIEND

  • Nine hilarious Moogie characters to get to know, each with their own special characteristics. Watch The Moogies come to life in a multitude of funny ways as children interact with them on screen.

DO YOU SPEAK MOOGIE?

  • Each interaction begins with a phone call. Speak to each Moogie and then listen to them respond in their own silly babble language. Each Moogie responds in a different way, especially the mischievous parrot that mimics what you say!

INTERACTIVE CARTOON

  • Interact with a variety of objects in the scene and watch the comical animations unfold. Watch the pig accidentally get sucked into a vacuum the cleaner, the horse struggle with exercise and many more hilarious scenes.

PERFECT FOR KIDS

  • The Moogies has no advertisements, no In App Purchases, nothing to hinder your child’s enjoyment of the experience at all. It’s pure, simple, laugh-out-loud fun for kids aged 2-6 (and you parents too!)

The Moogies is available on the iPhone and iPad for $2.99.

I'm torn with this game. I know my kids are at the top end of the age range for this game, BUT they really enjoy funny games, regardless of the target, as long as they're smartly and solidly made.
This one, I'm just not sure. The interactions are sometimes so delayed, you can't figure out if you have hit the right spot, or that it is taking a long time to start.
As well, there are sometimes so few things to do, especially on some of the later characters, it makes me wonder if the developers just sort of gave up a bit.
Now, there are a lot of things here and some sell separately in their own apps for $0.99, but a lot of those (like the parrot) are far more fully fleshed out in their separate apps.
So from a bang for your buck, you are getting a lot here. But, I don't know, there's just something... Off? Really young kids will think its a hoot, but I think they'll get frustrated, as it is missing the immediate gratification that apps NEED to provide

Ugh, disqus is making my life miserable
Anyway, the lack of immediate response when you touch the screen is a huge issue. It leaves kids frustrated and in turn makes them not interested in playing for very long.
And man, some of the sounds are downright irritating and annoying :(

I have a girl aged 4 and she loves it, she has been playing it for hours now. I don't quite understand the last comment about delayed gratification. Everything works fast and smooth.
