HBO will start streaming shows without cable in 2015

HBO will finally give many people what they have been requesting for years; a way to access their movies and TV shows like Game of Thrones without a cable TV subscription. That's the word from HBO CEO Richard Plepler, who revealed today at an investor conference that it will offer a "stand alone, over the top" streaming service sometime in 2015.

HBO Go for iOS updated with Google Chromecast support

Google Chromecast gets a little more useful today as the HBO Go application for iPhone and iPad has been updated with support for Google's $35 dongle. You'll need to be a HBO subscriber, of course, but otherwise fire it up and you should be good to go to beam stuff over to your Chromecast.

Apple TV keeps users from cutting the cable TV cord

Services like iTunes and products like Apple TV have made it easier than ever for people to "cut the cord" from cable TV - enabling them to pay either a la carte for programming they want or to use subscription-based services they think are worth the money, like Netflix or Hulu Plus.
