HBO and Amazon have struck up a multi-year agreement which makes Amazon Instant Video the exclusive online-only subscription service for HBO's shows. As a part of the deal, the recently-launched Fire TV will get HBO Go by the end of the year.
Google Chromecast gets a little more useful today as the HBO Go application for iPhone and iPad has been updated with support for Google's $35 dongle. You'll need to be a HBO subscriber, of course, but otherwise fire it up and you should be good to go to beam stuff over to your Chromecast.

HBO Go has been updated to version 2.0, bringing support for Apple's AirPlay feature to the app. HBO Go users can now stream video from any device running iOS 6 to any Apple TV that’s been updated to software version 5.1.1 or later.
Apple and HBO are engaged in talks to bring the pay-TV channel's HBO Go service to the Apple TV set-top box, according to a new report from Bloomberg. While many modern media distribution companies like Hulu and Netflix have embraced Apple TV, the more traditional outlets like the big broadcast channels and pay channels like HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax have been more hesitant in their overtures. While most have apps available for iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, the fact that the Apple TV is hooked up to a television - their turf - has always been a source of tension.
