Description: A small, cream colored horse, Ponyta has dark brown eyes and grey hooves. What sets it apart from an ordinary horse are the yellow and orange flames that make up its mane and tail. These flames burn down the length of Ponyta's back, as well as around the joints in its legs. Within an hour of its hatching, the flames ignite and continue to burn throughout its life, however, Ponyta can control the heat from the flames so as to keep them from burning its rider. It will only do this for a trusted Trainer so attempting to ride a wild Ponyta will result is serious burns. Ponyta's hooves are hard as diamonds, allowing it to make fantastic jumps without breaking.
In the Galar Region, Ponyta look and behave quite different. Exposure to the energy of particular forests have altered the Galarian Ponyta into a psychic type. Its mane and tail are no longer comprised of flames; instead, they are comprised of cloudy, blue and purple fluff. It is able to absorb energy and store it inside its mane and tail which will glow and become more colorful the more energy they contain. Galarian Ponyta also have a purple horn in the center of their foreheads which they can use to heal small wounds. It can stare into the heart of any person with its light blue eyes and detect darkness. It will flee from anyone who doesn't have a pure heart.
