Siri gains Dutch support on HomePod, hinting at a HomePod mini launch

Apple has added support for Dutch to Siri on HomePods, despite the original HomePod having never been on sale in the country. That suggests that Apple could be planning to bring HomePod mini to the Netherlands sooner rather than later.

According to an iCulture report, Apple added Dutch HomePod support alongside the latest iOS 15.2 and beta HomePod software release — an interesting move considering no HomePod has been sold in the country. That would appear to suggest that could change soon.

Apple has not yet announced anything about the release of the HomePod in the Netherlands. There were therefore no indications that the speaker would be released in our country soon, but 15.2 changes that in one fell swoop. Dutch has been added as a language option via the settings in the Home app on an iPhone or iPad and HomePod software update 15.2. If you choose that setting, you can talk to the HomePod in Dutch and you will receive an answer in Dutch.

There seems to be little reason for Apple to add Dutch support if it doesn't intend to launch a HomePod mini in the Netherlands, so fingers are crossed that people in that part of the world could be getting their HomePod on soon.

Apple's HomePod mini received a slight refresh recently, picking up some new colors but no new functionality.
