How to secure your iPhone or iPad with a 4-digit passcode

Leaving your iPhone or iPad might feel like a convenience, but if you ever leave it unattended, lose it, or have it stolen, it leaves you open to everything from pranks to having all your personal data exposed. By enabling a simple, easy-to enter 4-digit Lock screen passcode, you not only make it much, much harder for someone to get at your data, but you also make it much harder for them to do anything but user it as a paperweight if you ever lose it or have it stolen.

4G vs. 3G on EE's new LTE network in the UK - on the iPhone 5 of course

Earlier this week, we brought you a video of me going hands on with the iPhone 5 on EE's new 4G LTE network which goes live in the UK on October 30th. I thought it may be interesting to run some 4G speed tests alongside 3G just so those of you that will switch from either an Orange or T-Mobile contract over to an EE one can see what you will be getting. Price plans have not yet been announced, which it a bit of a shame. However, it will be interesting to see if EE charge any extra for the LTE service.

iOS 5.1 beta 3 restores 3G data toggle in Settings

iOS 5.1 beta 3, which was released to developers today, restores the missing 3G toggle Apple removed in the initial 5.1 developer beta.

The restoration of the 3G toggle will no doubt be a welcomed return for iPhone users with inadequate 3G access in their area, or for users who just want to conserve a little extra battery life.

Still, this makes us wonder why they removed the 3G toggle in the first place. Could Apple be planning to make this optional between wireless networks with a per-network proprietary carrier update file?
