Ipod Touch 5

iPhone 5, iPod touch 5 touchscreens responding oddly to multiple, rapid diagonal swipes

The iPhone 5 appears to be exhibiting odd touch behavior when it comes to consistent detection of multiple swipe events over time. On an iPhone 4S, you can begin rapidly swiping back and forth and iOS will easily keep pace, scrolling the view to match your mad swiping, even as you start angling towards the diagonal. On an iPhone 5, however, while vertical scrolling remains fine, rapid diagonal scrolling will drop off, as though iOS simply tires of detecting the gestures.

iPod touch 5 vs iPhone 5: Camera shootout

Apple has released a new iPod touch and this time it actually has a decent camera on it. But is it half-way decent or all-the-way decent? If you go iPod touch instead of iPhone 5, and the camera matters to you, how much are you missing out? That's what we're aiming to find out by putting both to the test. It's iPhone 5 vs. iPod touch 5 in an iOS camera shoot-out, iMore style!

iPod touch 5 vs. iPhone 5 vs. iPod touch 4 gallery

The iPhone 5 is the thinnest, lightest iPhone ever, but the iPod touch 5 is almost 2-dimensional. Everything comes at a price, however, and so while the iPod touch 5 is even thinner and lighter than the iPhone 5, it doesn't have anywhere near as good internals. If you don't care about that, however, if all you want to do is scratch the surface and find more surface, then here's how the iPod touch 5 compares to the iPhone 5 is close up. And for good measure, we'll throw in some iPod touch 4 and iPod touch 3 action as well.

Next generation iPod touch 5 rumors get detailed

Back in May when iMore head about the iPad mini release schedule and pricing goal, we also heard that the iPod touch wasn't going anywhere. We covered what the iPod touch means in an iPad mini world a couple of days ago, and what an iPod touch with iPhone 5 class flagship device with 4-inch, 16:9 display and amped up internals, could mean. Macotakara is now reporting something very close to that, but with a few interesting specifics:

What happens to the iPod touch in a post-iPad mini world?

Poll: Which next-gen iOS device do you want the most?

Which next-gen iOS device do you want the most?

There will almost certainly be an iPhone 5 this fall, likely October, and it may well come with a 4-inch, 16:9 screen and an LTE radio for super-fast networking. But is that the next-generation iOS device you want most?

Rumors are also running hot and heavy about a new addition to the iOS family, the first new addition since 2010 -- a 7.85-inch iPad mini. With the same powerful specs as the iPad 2, but in a much smaller package, it could be easier to carry, cheaper to buy, and much more attractive for education and mobile business. Is that the iOS device you've been lusting over?

The iPod touch hasn't been updated since the fall of 2010, so if Apple gives their gaming handheld the same kind of 4-inch, 16:9 inch screen, and maybe a redesign, would that be your dream iOS device?

Some kind of Apple TV variant? A full on Apple television? A larger screened iPad? Or something else entirely?

Which next-gen iOS device is also next on your iOS shopping list?

Apple rumored to be testing 1GB, A5X-variant powered iPhone, readying next generation iPod touch

We've already heard quite a bit about the next generation iPhone, but now reports are surfacing about its processor and RAM as well. Just as they did last year, when Apple seeded Apple A5 powered iPhone 4 devices for testing prior to releasing the iPhone 4S, Apple is now rumored to be seeding Apple A5X powered devices for testing prior to this fall's new iPhone release. Since this A5X chip won't need to power a new iPad-style Retina display, there will be some differences according to 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman.
