Twitterrific, the elegant Iconfactory Twitter client for iPhone and iPad, has been updated to support one of their most requested features -- push notifications. Currently in beta, users are being added to Twitterrific's push system in batches of 1,000 to make sure servers stay up and the experience remains positive for everyone. If you don't get into the push beta immediately, just try again in a few days. (You can find it in the Settings section.)

Push notifications, search come to Netbot for app.net

What is Notification Error "no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application?

TiPb's getting a lot of questions about Notification Error "no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application, what it means, and what can be done about it. Reason being, Google released their new Gmail for iPhone and iPad app today today, and subsequently pulled it due to some launch-time bugs involving Push Notifications.

Short answer: Google messed up Push Notifications and there's nothing you can do about it until Google fixes it and Apple pushes out that fix.

Saying no to notifications

I've turned off almost all notifications on my iPhone. No email sound or vibration, no Twitter popups, nothing from Facebook -- even if it worked, nothing from Ping -- if anyone used it, no Game Center trumpets, no nothing. Almost. I do leave on SMS and Phone (because I need working telephony), and Calendar and Alarm still get to alert me (because I need to stay employed). That's it.

But it used to be the opposite.

Facebook 3.1 with Push Notifications for iPhone Now Available

Facebook for iPhone just received an update that contains one of the most sought after missing features, push notifications. It has been a long time coming as most of us hoped for this feature when Facebook 3.0 was released. The only other difference noted in 3.1 is very Android-like, the ability to sync your friends with your address book.

Now all we need is for Apple to step up to the plate with iPhone 4.0 and give us a better to handle our notifications. At least we can all dream right?
