Apple is set to hold a sale across Asia to celebrate The Year of the Dragon. The sale will start on January 6 and will last for one day only. As with all Apple sales, you will not know what the sale covers until it actually starts.

Customers in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines are eligible for Apple’s one-day sale, which the company is calling ‘Red Friday’, offering a range of accessories, gadgets and software — as well as some Apple Store exclusives.

Apple apparently sees Asia as a major growth market with China having the largest draw due to its huge population. Apple will look to boost sales and develop its brand by having promotions to match key dates in the Asian calendar.

Apple has announced that it will be holding a one day holiday shopping event on Black Friday which just happens to be this Friday November 25th.

Mark your calendar now, and come back to the Apple Online Store for the special one-day event. You’ll discover amazing iPad, iPod and Mac gifts for everyone on your list.

The banners have appeared in the UK and a few other Apple online stores but nothing as of yet in the US store. If you are planning on purchasing any iPad, iPod or Mac products, it may be worthwhile holding off until Friday. It looks like Apple may have some bargains to entice you to part with some of your hard earned money!

For a limited time, the price of the app has been slashed by 50%. We don’t know how long the sale is going to last so it may be wise to pick this up sooner rather than later!

Remotely control your PC or Mac, plus view, transfer and save files or folders – all with a single app on your iPad or iPhone. Ignition is a one-time purchase that runs on both your iPad and iPhone and works with LogMeIn’s award-winning free software. Install LogMeIn for FREE on an unlimited number of remote computers to access from your iPad and iPhone. With your files, applications and desktops right at your fingertips, you’re finally free to go.

LogMeIn Ignition is certainly one of the higher priced apps on the App Store. It usually costs around $30 but it is now reduced for a limited time to $14.99. If you use LogMeIn on your Mac or Windows PC, this app is a great way to remotely access that machine on your iOS device! It is a universal app too; so works great on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Not convinced by the grandeur and splendor of the iPad 2? You’re in luck. Now that the new hotness is coming on March 11th, the old hotness is getting a price break. Here’s how the prices now break down:

iPad 16g WiFi Only: $399

iPad 32g WiFi Only: $499

iPad 64g WiFi Only: $599

iPad 16g WiFi + 3G: $529

iPad 32g WiFi + 3G: $629

iPad 64g WiFi + 3G: $729

2010 was the year of the iPad (see the video after the break). Anybody looking to save some cash and go with first-gen? Oh, and by the way, you can’t pre-order the iPad 2 ….yet.

Radio Shack is offering $50 in savings on the purchase of a new iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS at their retail locations (i.e. offline only) until December 11. Better yet, if you have a good condition iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS you want to trade in, they’ll give you another $75 or $125 off respectively. Darren Murph of Engadget does the math on that:

you could walk in today, hand over your 3GS, and walk out with an iPhone 4 for $25 (plus activation fees)

Apparently they’re eating the discount to gain some marketing attention for their wireless business. But chances are you don’t care why — they had you at cheap. Anyone taking them up on the offer?

NAVIGON has been on the iTunes App Store for one year, and to celebrate the anniversary they’re offering 50% off their turn-by-turn navigation apps and in-app purchases, including MobileNavigator and MyRegion:

To kick off its second year in the App Store, NAVIGON is celebrating for four days (August 12-15) with a half-off promotion for all North American MobileNavigator apps and most other country versions. The In App Purchase options Traffic Live and Panorama View 3D are also 50 percent off. The additional maps in the MyRegion app get a discount of more than 30 percent.

I recently tried MobileNavigator for the first time when I took a trip up north. We were going to be going through areas of no cell coverage so I couldn’t use the built-in, online Maps app (because they wouldn’t load without data). MobileNavigator puts all the maps on your iPhone so even if you lose data, you still have GPS and it can still display the maps. Sure, it makes for a big download (over 1.5GB for all of North America) but I must say it was amazing. It was very smooth and we never noticed when we dropped from 3G to EDGE or offline — it just kept navigating. It even reminded us about a side trip we’d forgotten about on the way and helped us find a restaurant we just couldn’t locate (we had to trust it though, our own sense of north and south had betrayed us!)

All in all I was very happy with it so if you’re looking for an on-board, offline navigation app for your iPhone, and NAVIGON interests you, this is a great time to try it out. (If you do, make sure you tell me how it works for you).

Here’s the app pricing:

MobileNavigator North America (includes maps for Canada & US): $39.99 instead of $79.99

MobileNavigator USA: $24.99 instead of $49.99

MobileNavigator Canada: $29.99 instead of $59.99

MobileNavigator US MyRegion East, Central or West: $14.99 instead of $29.99, additional regions $11.99 instead of $14.99.

And in-app purchases

Traffic Live: $12.99 instead of $24.99

Panorama View 3D: $4.99 instead of $9.99

Now don’t get too excited, the iPhone 3GS is not being discounted by AT&T. But if you are in the market for a excellent smart phone at a great entry level price, AT&T has the deal for you.

It looks like AT&T is trying to push the iPhone 3G’s out the door as they have just lowered the price of 8 GB and 16 GB phones to $79.99 and $129.99 respectively, with a two-year contract. Both white and black models are currently available while the discount lasts. Before you jump on this deal, keep in mind of the following:

Refurbished Phones and Devices Refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished iPhone 3G devices will have minor scratches. Refurbished iPhone 3G devices carry a warranty of 90 days or more. For details about the warranty on your refurbished iPhone 3G go to www.apple.com/support/oss/.

So if you are okay with the above and you want an iPhone at a great low price, jump all over this one – there is no telling how long it will last!

[Thank to everyone who sent this in!]

For those of you who are not familiar with our Apps for Less posts, they are simply a way for us to point out a few good applications in the App Store on sale or at a price that we feel is worth mentioning to our valued readers.

First up we have an Apps for Less favorite, BeejiveIM [iTunes Link]. This application has been spotlighted in Apps for Less 3 times with the price dropping as low as $9.99. We have some good news for you, BeejiveIM is once again on sale for the low price of $9.99. You may be thinking that the price is still too high but honestly, you will not find a better IM client on the App Store, plain and simple. So if you are looking for the best out there, this is the one for you.

Next up we have a good one for all of you Kung Fu + word game fans. WordFu [iTunes Link] is a dice-based word game that combines a Kung Fu theme with many elements of other popular word games. Your task is to assemble as many words from the given letters as possible. All in all it’s a fun game that is pretty simple to play and for the low price of $.99 can you really go wrong? Just keep in mind it is a limited time sale. The price will be increasing so grab it as soon as possible!

The last app we have for you today is a little game called Enigmo [iTunes Link]. Enigmo has been one of the most successful games within the App Store.

“Enigmo is the most unique game that you’ll find for the iPhone or iPod Touch. It is a 3D puzzle game where you manipulate slides, bumpers, and other pieces to control streams of flowing liquid. Liquids (water, oil, and lava) fall from “droppers” and will bounce around the walls of a puzzle. You move and rotate the various puzzle pieces in order to divert the flow of the falling droplets so that they can reach their target. The faster you complete each level, the more bonus you will receive.”

This is one great game with an even greater price. For a limited time you can now purchase this app for the cheap price of $.99! That’s $3.00 off the regular price so don’t delay!

Hopefully some of you can take advantage and get in on these deals before it is too late! Enjoy!

Apple has begun sending out notices about their annual “Black Friday” sale, so named because it’s theoretically a shopping day so monumental it tips the retail balances out of the red (losing money) and into the black (making profit). Years past have seen $100 off MacBooks, for example, though rumors this year suggest Apple might be more aggressive with their sale.

Cyber Monday, the trendy follow-up where people have mulled over everything they didn’t buy on Black Friday and make use of once-were-faster office internet connections to order stuff online, is typically ignored by Apple, so those wanting even a little savings should definitely not miss out Friday.

Will iPhone’s see any discount love? We don’t expect so, given their already hugely subsidized price, but we remain ever hopeful!

So far we’ve gotten notices in the US (where it follows the Thanksgiving holiday), and Canada (where it follows just another work day). Anyone else get a notice for their country? Please post in the comments!

One of our favorite apps on the Mac — and the iPhone — is on sale for today only:

First, we have partnered with macZOT! to bring you a special deal! This Thursday, Oct 30th, for one day only, 1Password will be available for an incredible 50% off its regular price: 1Password Halloween Special!

The 1Password iPhone App is, of course, free, but the Mac app is usually $39 bucks, so this is almost a full $20 off. Of course, some people will complain it’s not “free” as well, but then these same people typically don’t work for free either, as trying to feed a family doesn’t work for “free”. Support great software and great developers will be here to support us with even more great apps.

Typically among the very first apps I install when I’m setting up a system, flawless password management and syncing make this not only a “just works” but a “must have”. (Plus, their UI and general graphic design work is awesome, and that hooks me every time!)

Get it before the stroke of midnight!

With the economic crunch harshening everyone’s mellow, we here at TiPb are all about saving money for our faithful readers! Every week we will bring to your attention a few apps from Apple’s Official App Store that are on sale or have dropped in price. Now keep in mind we have not tested all of these apps so we can not vouch on the quality of them all, but what we can promise you is we will weed out the poorly rated apps and only present to you the better ones.

The first app worth mentioning is Aqua Forest – Powered By Octaveengine Casual, has dropped in price to $0.00 from $7.99. This one is for a limited time only so go grab it!

A great game worth checking out, Enigmo, has just dropped $3 in price to $1.99. Definitely a app worth a look.

For the racing fans out there, Moto Chaser, is at a price that can not be beat at $.99 down from $4.99. GTS World Racing is now $2.99, down $5. Not too shabby. And both were recently featured in our App vs. App TiPb GRAND PRIX, so check out the reviews there!

iTip is nice to have handy while out to dinner, and it’s now FREE, not a bad price no?

We will keep an eye out for for more price drops worth mentioning and if we missed one, please let us know!
