According to Global Equities Research, Apple's foray into the digital textbook market has been met with initial success, selling through upwards of 350,000 textbooks within the first 3 days. AllThingsD reports.

Apple is hosting an event in New York tomorrow, and if the chalkboard logo is any indication, we'll be seeing some new content for educators. New reports suggest the big angle here will be interactive textbooks delivered on iPad through a new file format and publishing system curated by Apple. On top of cutting the hassle of lugging around a bunch of print volumes, digital textbooks would be more engaging, and publishers would be able to update their products as necessary.

iPad starting to infiltrate classrooms throughout the UK

We have heard quite a few stories recently about the iPad being used in schools in the United States. It now appears that a similar roll out is starting to happen overseas too, with the UK leading the way.

According to The Telegraph, Longfield Academy in Kent will start to use iPads from the start of the new school year; which starts next month. The scheme was announced to parents earlier in the year with the school informing them that young people enjoy learning through technology.

Lake Minneola High School has adopted the iPad as its future learning device of choice. When students return next month they will have access to a shiny new iPad for school time and home use. Lake Minneola will be the first public school in Central Florida to buy Apples iconic tablet for all of its students.
