AT&T wants Europe, eyes Vodafone as the way in

AT&T appears to be looking longingly, hungrily across the Atlantic at Vodafone, and it has acquisition in its eyes. It's no secret AT&T wants to expand into Europe. They're already one of the biggest carriers in the U.S., and there's never enough customers nor money in the world, is there? Mark Kleinman has the latest on Sky News:

O2 vs Vodafone vs Three vs EE: Which UK iPad Air or iPad mini carrier should you get?

If you're in the UK with eyes on a new cellular iPad Air or iPad mini, the decision on which carrier to go with is more difficult than ever. This time around 4G LTE is a factor, with three of the four big carriers having recently flipped the switch, with one more to come before the end of the year. As such, getting the most bang for your buck while accessing this superfast mobile data on your new iPad is likely top of the agenda. But it doesn't end there.

Three vs O2 vs EE vs Vodafone: Which UK iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c carrier should you get?

If you're in the U.K, choosing a carrier for your new iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s is a little tougher than last year. 12 months ago the iPhone 5 launched as the first LTE enabled iPhone, and better yet, the UK was getting it. If you call getting it buying a phone at launch on the promise that it would work on one carrier once they flipped the switch later in the year. This time around things are very, very different.

The star of IFA 2013 may just be made out of Lego

This isn't a phone, or a tablet, or any other kind of device, but it is possibly the star of the show here in Berlin at IFA 2013. What it is, is an LTE tower constructed by the folks at Vodafone Germany, entirely made using Lego bricks. Who knows how long it actually took to put together, or how many Vodafone Germany employees were drafted in to put together this gargantuan structure, but it's impressive. Very, very impressive. So I couldn't leave the show without sharing it, though no amount of images could ever truly show how big this thing really is.

UK 4G LTE race heats up; Vodafone and O2 go live, Three announces their plans

Today, August 29, the UK finally sees competition in the 4G LTE race, as both Vodafone and O2 flip the switches. Initially, coverage is minimal with Vodafone only covering London to begin with, and O2 just London, Leeds and Bradford. Great news for anyone who uses those carriers in those cities, but bad news for anyone who wants to use it with an iPhone at the moment, as both are incompatible with the current iPhone 5. The one we've been waiting on is Three, and their plans are now out in the open.

Why an LTE iPhone 5 won’t be a very attractive proposition for UK consumers

There has been a lot of talk over how the iPhone 5 will be a major upgrade from the current iPhone 4S. Consistent rumors point to not only a taller screen but most importantly an LTE radio. What is LTE and why does it matter? LTE in very basic terms is a mobile data technology that offers very fast data. Imagine if you will, downloading data onto your iPhone at a something like 50Mbit/s in real world situations and you’re getting the gist

Carriers starting to advertise iPhone 5 release

Vodafone now has a teaser page up on their site for what we'd imagine is the iPhone 5. They're advertising it as "this year's biggest smartphone release" so we can only assume it's a placeholder for whatever iPhone Apple is rumored to announce on October 4th.

The page also gives subscribers the option to sign up for e-mail updates on the mystery phone. Hopefully we are only a few days away from hearing about an announcement and a few weeks away from an actual announcement. How many of you still think we'll see a new iPhone available before the end of October?
