Now that your Linksys Velop router works with HomeKit, you decide how your HomeKit accessories interact with other devices in the home, or what internet services they can connect to. By default, HomeKit uses a list of approved services provided by accessory manufacturers and blocks any traffic that doesn't match. Of course, you can take things even further with additional options, here's the breakdown of settings that are available:

  • Restrict to Home: Only allow connections to your home hub. This may block firmware updates or other services.
  • Automatic: Allow connections with an automatically-updated list of manufacturer-approved internet services and local devices.
  • No Restriction: Allow connections with any internet service or local device. This provides the lowest level of security.

  • Apple Home Integration doesn’t appear in my menu.
  • Linksys didn't state exactly when everyone would receive the update, other than it began rolling it out in the United States a couple of weeks ago and that other countries would follow later in the year. Hopefully it will show up soon!
  • I have the highest end Velop WiFi 6 router the MX10 and Linksys told me there is no planned support for Apple HomeKit integration.
  • If I have an existing wifi setup, will I be able to allow all devices to join the HomeKit Secure Router without modification? I recall reading an article months ago that said it was painful to convert your existing network to a HomeKit Secure Router. Any insights?
  • Your HomeKit accessories will work just fine without any major changes required. Before the HomeKit Secure Router feature was released, Apple published a support document that stated that you had to remove and re-pair your accessories to add the additional security features. This wasn't the case at all, and Apple has since removed it from the HomeKit Secure Router support pages.
  • Any idea how to use this with the hh3000 on Bell Canada’s fibe network
