This product worked really bad for me. Some days it worked perfect, then the next day it was absolutely horrible, even when tuned onto the same stations. Now the thing doesn't even turn on when I plug everything in. I don't know what the problem is.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! This review is incorrect. Sure it is built sturdy and in theory is supposed to work by the click of a button. But every time you try to find a station there is not one and if it finds one it is already taken by a radio station. Horrible!!

this product is a sham. when i TRIED to take it back they couldn't get it to work at the apple store (located in Ridgeland, MISSISSIPPI) which is basically located next to open fields. you must get a check from apple to shill for this piece of junk.

then, they wouldn't take it back at the store because my trip lasted more than 14 days.... you get the picture.

I bought one of these for the several road trips we were planning. We didn't abuse it, but on the third trip we found that one of the wire had broken internally causing intermittent audio on the left channel. I can't recommend buying one of these.

The reality is where I live, there are very, very, very few stations (like 3) that don’t broadcast anything.

I stumbled over this, until I realized that what the author meant to write is: there are very, very, very few frequencies on which no stations are broadcasting.

Otherwise, he is telling us that there are three radio stations in his area that have decided not to broadcast any content.

I used an fm transmitter for my old 30 gig iPod and found a great trick for reception. I unscrewed my antenna which let the weaker stations die out. It left me with many more stations and the popular strong radio stations still made it through.

I have been using this device for a while now and I agree with all the points in this article - I actually would go as far as to say the 'find a clear channel selector' is a bit of a sham, but that may be that there are no clear channels to find.

My biggest complaint is when I plug this device into my 3G I often get the "This devise is not supported would you like me to switch to airplane mode .." message! What is up with that?

I agree that you can't knock the device for the inherent problems with using the FM signal. However, in my almost 1 year of using the old Belkin smartscan with my 3g iphone I can't count the number of times I almost got in an accident trying to get a good signal!
