And the alleged iPhone 5 case leaks begin... [Updated]
We're still probably 4 or 5 months away from an iPhone 5 launch but that hasn't stopped the annual tradition of... case leaks! iPhones are produced in China, iPhone cases are produced in China, Apple won't reveal details of their next generation phones pre-launch, but if the factories get chummy and some information changes hands... Well, the workers might get prosecuted later, but the cases leak now.
If this one is genuine -- and we never know until Apple shows the actual, final iPhone off on stage -- it seems to show the LED flash has been relocated from its iPhone 4 spot beside the camera to the opposite side of the back plate.
Curious.
What do you think, real, fake, or really fake?
UPDATE: Some camera parts have surfaced that seem consistent with the LED Flash position in the case above. Picture after the break. [Apple.pro, thanks everyone!]
UPDATE 2: That's a distorted iPad screen shot used as a place holder. Nothing indicative of iOS 5 there.

Probably fake.. But the flash being over there would help eliminate the glare caused by some cases.
However the shadow from the flash becomes more noticeable.
...and makes it tricky to hold for landscape shots.

I call "fake" on this one too. It looks like someone used Photoshop to lift the screen from the iPad and trimmed it to fit in there somehow, as the icons look way too small for it to be a real iPhone screen. If so, it's not a very convincing Photoshop job.
I think the point is to display the case, as the case maker probably doesn't have a real next gen iPhone.
Yeah, it might just be a printed cardboard cutout in the case for display purposes, as we've been mentioning. And for all we know, this case might not even be for the real iPhone, but for one of the various cheap knock-offs that are out there.
Bring on a 2nd camera and no-glasses 3d Retina display. 3d video/photos!

This is based off of rumor. No reason for the flash to be over there. Also the iPad ui on it.
I like the ipad ui way more.
The only differences are more icons on a page and in the dock.

Exactly. A 4-inch display (without increasing the overall dimensions of the iPhone) would be just right.
Come on guys, are you really that gullible. Cases ship with different cardboard cutouts that don't even match the phone. It's just to show you how the case would look if your phone or something looking like your phone were in the case.
That is a possibility, that it might just be a cardboard cutout as part of the packaging.
Perhaps it is for a second camera for 3D photos.

the screen looks like it's bigger than the device itself (in width), like all the recent iphone 5 "leaks" the sad thing is, i bought a 3gs (which im very happy with) from a friend and not the iphone 4 so i wouldnt be stuck to a contract when the iphone 5 comes out and now it wont even come out in june/july i suppose -.-
Yes, most likely fake, I know some cases make iPhone 5 cases according to what they think it'll look like to be ahead

My wife made me swap my iPhone 4 with her 3GS. I am miseable. It's like trying to watch anything other than HD. I am about to say F the new one and get another 4. The 3GS is unbearable.

Ha! I am glad she's happy. Happy wife, happy life. The 3GS is limp but 10X better than the windows phone my work gave me (that's on t mobile).
Ha! Im in the same boat as you, gave my wife my iphone 4 and got her 3gs to now. I got an atrix to hold me over until the 5 comes out, and android sucks compared to ios. I keep tellin myself ill be ahead in the long run with the 5. But of course with all the rumors out that its delayed has me onthe verge of just getting a 4. I must stay strong.

I would say possibly fake because the icon size looks similar to the android and I don't see Apple changing that.
Additionally it also looks like an iPad just "shrunk" to an iPhone size.
If it is real, it's a VERY early prototype... and the OS has totally been photoshopped. Still, I'm curious if they'll change screen size or resolution on this one. I hope not, I'd hate to see Apple fragmenting the iDevice line.
Sure it's fake. The pict is just trying to describe the next iPhone design. Do you think apple will let anyone take a pict of their secret design and leaked it later?
Everyone keeps talking about the screen.... its a cardboard cutout like any other that cases ships with lol. I hope this is fake tho because I want to be able to use all my cases when I upgrade to my 5!

Fake. I mean come on. No front face camera? They invested way too much in FaceTime just to see it desolve a year later.
I think it's real well the camera part anyways. I don't think they will change the screen size and please no 3D. I'm so sick of 3D there is no practical use for it on a phone.

This is real. The home screen graphics is just for purprose of showing off the case , not the phone. It's a case leak image not a phone leak image.
It is possible the Iphone 4S just sucks. I'm sticking with my 2nd Gen.

There's no way in hell that's a 3D camera. The EVO 3D is coming out this year so Apple will get around to 3D in ~2014.

Honestly, Why would it be on the same side? That's an honest question not a smart ass one. I know nothing about how camera flash positioning works.
as a side note maybe the moved it for design reasons. like other components used the space.
