After significant expansion into China over the course of the year, Apple has confirmed that it will open its first retail store in Singapore. Also notable is the fact that all operations in the country will be powered by renewable energy, extending Apple's bid to power all of its facilities worldwide with clean energy. The rooftop-mounted solar panels will be installed by Sunseap Group, generating 50 MW of solar energy.

In a statement to TechCrunch, Angela Ahrendts, Apple's Senior Vice President for Retail and Online Stores, stated:

We have more than 900 incredible employees working in our Singapore contact center and are thrilled to begin hiring the team that will open our first Apple Store in Singapore — an incredible international city and shopping destination. We can't wait to deliver the service, education and entertainment that is loved by Apple customers around the world.
