UPDATED: AT&T Service Outage in Your Area?

Doesn't work in Chicago for me. Keeps saying my service has been disconnected when I call of others call my phone. AT&T=unreliable.

full service in fernandina beach fl but i will say i used to get 3g service and for a few months no 3g

I've been without service for over 3 hours in the Metro Detroit area.

AT&T is very reliable in Texas, but they are headquartered in Dallas.

Louisville KY is working...there is also a Level 3 (internet fiber optic backbone) outage on the east coast, possibly related?

Just left AT&T store outside Chicago. Wife's Iphone works, my Bold does not. They said its outage but does not impact everyone... Also, this extends to East Coast, they say.

Works ok in SF bay area.

In Detroit cannot receive calls or text message's but can send both.

In Chicago, my 3G iPhone is dead in the water. Says "No Service" my partner's 1st gen iPhone works fine though.... argh

AT&T cell phones have been out in Chicago area for past three hours. Our DSL with AT&T is also downl; landline service has been sketchy for the past week.

AT&T has issues with 3G in the Detroit area. Try turning it off. Mine works fine.

No Service here in Detroit area. I went to the AT&T store and they have signs up noting a major network outage. There were drones of people going in I'm sure because of the outage.

My family has at&t cell service here in Detroit and the lines are still down. They cannot make, recieve or text anyone on the network. This is terrible.

I'm in Ypsilanti, MI, ATT said the outage is random. My husbands phone works fine and I am out of service on the same account. They gave me a $10.00 credit but can't tell me when service will be back. They say it's only been a coupld of hours in Michigan but I have had no service for longer than that. NEVER had this problem with Cingular in same area.

I'm in Port Huron Mi, and my service has been out all day. Rogers picks it up, since I live on the boarder, but havnet been able to do much with it...

I just called a friend this very minute. I got through fine. She said everyone is telling her they're trying to call her and can't get through. So, I guess her and I are the only Detroit area people with service? :roll:

I actually planned on buying the iphone today (I have the shine now) But i can't get ahold of the authorized user because we have no service.

No service in west Knoxville area at 3:00, it was working fine in Atlanta earlier today. Two 3G iPhones, neither have server, two other ATT phones, no problem. ATT service phone calls keep cutting me off!!!

Six states wide outage. They will take 1-2 days to fix it. Call and get your service prorated at the least. But call volume is out of control today so wait. She said some people are having luck if they take their sim card out and reset.

I called the AT&T store (Chicago), they said they are having a nationwide outage...that was as of 2:45. My signal just returned.

Can't reach my boyfriend on his iPhone in Metro Detroit. Message says "Due to local telephone company trouble in the area you are calling, your call cannot be completed at this time."

I have 3G in Seattle and Washington DC today, but nowhere have I been able to connect to "attwifi" keeps giving me an error with a phone #.

In flint michigan there has been no att wireless service for 6 hours. Says "no network coverage". last night and today we have had extremely high winds.

In Metro Detroit area, and I haven't had a connection since ~10:00am. I called AT&T and they said the outage is down to Michigan and Indiana.

3G in Ann Arbor works perfectly for me... But my sister's original iPhone has the wrong time showing and no bars. Just tried calling it from landline (Vonage) and after ringing twice, there was a long delay and then a prolonged screech.

No AT&T service north of Chicago, either. I get full set of bars to no avail: can't make any phone calls. Then, the full set goes to no bars. Both my N96 and some crappy old Samsung do not work.

Detroit still out at 4:34pm. Was able to connect to Rogers in Canada for a bit, so then I knew for sure it was something with AT&T.

In metro detroit. I can't make any phone calls but can send texts. btw...don't have an iPhone, have the Tilt. Our land line seems to be in and out too. So it's not just the 3G network. My mom was able to get a signal in Lansing and was able to call me here in Det...however I still can't call anyone. This sucks!!!

I'm in the Detroit area and I've had no service since around 10:30 am. My signal returned at about 1:11 pm, however it only stayed up for about 5 minutes!!! I haven't been able to do a thing since! This is completely ridiculous, my BB is like my third arm!! I'm lost without it :(

No service in Troy, MI as of 10:30am today. What is at&t doing to fix this because the store employees shrugged their shoulders when I asked when it would be fixed by?

I have not a service for an hour and a half. It is very frustrating. everytime I try to call someone it says busy! I called customer service and all I can do is wait! They said that I could call back after it was up and they would give me a credit for being without service. Of course they would otherwise I would switch to another company!! I hope they fix the problem soon because I would like to use my phone!!

I'm in San Francisco. It was working at 1:25ish (pacfic time) and then at about 1:30 it stopped working. I have the iPhone 3g. I turned of 3g, restarted and it worked again for a phone call. Then I turned on 3g and it isn't showing service again. Still have "no service"

people laugh at the Verizon commercials with those geeky network guys in the background... well now I dread the fact that I left Verizon. All because of a freakin iPhone. This is absurd. I should be able to run any phone on any network. Im quitting att & gonna sell my iPhone on eBay and then get a blackberry! Verizon truly is the best network & now I can say I've tried 'em all!!!

my tmobile blackberry has never dropped a call or gone out of service in 4 years. AT&T goes down a few times per month. just hope it doesnt happen to you in an emergency and its no big deal.

"No Service" in Milwaukee. I also received a voicemail message which was actually a partial recording of someone (unknown to me) talking to their mother. Strange.

There was a major outage earlier today at Level3's Detroit location. AT&T must have been reliant on their fiber connectivity.

No AT&T Cellphone service in Wyandotte, Michigan (12 mi. out of Detroit) - Frustrating. Here I was making a good argument towards NOT having a landline (just cellphones) and now my wife is going to want the $80 per month landline for these types of emergencies... Darn it... this outage is going to cost me $80 x 12 = nearly $1000 a year!

No cell service in Madison, WI since about 3pm. When you call an AT&T cell number, if your lucky, you get the gal saying "Due to network difficulties, your call can not be connected at this time". More likely is a fast busy signal or the generic recording saying the wireless user is unavailable.
Our home phone (AT&T) and cable (via Dish Network) is working fine.
Nice job AT&T....all I'm hearing from the in-laws is how great US Cellular.

3G has been down all day in Plymouth, MI. It has to be a wireless only problem. I have AT&T land line and U-verse service with internet and everything but the cells are working fine.

5:31pm in Northville MI (NW of Detroit). Service has been down since sometime this morning. I imagine there's a lot of peoplepissed at me because I'm not returning their calls.

I live in Elgin, a suburb of Chicago. No service since noon. I was actually in an ATT store when the network went down. They had little info at the time. I went with my week old IPhone cause it stopped connecting to my home network. They could not help. Thoughts?

My Nokia says error in connection when I try to call, but a text just went through. I live in the Metro Detroit Area. (Romulus, 48174).

Nothing in Chicago as of 4:45. I went to the AT&T store around noon. They changed the SIM and I had service for about an hour. Then it went out again. I went back to the store and they said there were major network problems - expected to be back on line in 3 hours. I also have Treo on AT&T. I have a signal but get an 'invalid phone number' error when I try to make a call.

5:45 PM Menu bars just popped up onscreen here in W. Bloomfield MI, but no service yet. Does anyone know if DSL services in Detroit area are working? If that is down I probably don't need to go to work tomorrow. What a shame.

As of now, I have no service at all, either voice or data, in the western suburbs of Detroit. Except for a brief period of time around 2 PM when 3G service returned for about 15 minutes, it's been that way since late morning. Zero service, zero bars.

Just talked to AT&T customer service and they are having a 7 state outage. Currently they are unsure of when service will be restored. The states include (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska).

Definitely. When there's an outage this large, an announcement should be the first thing I see upon logging into the AT&T Wireless website to check my account.

No AT&T service in Wyandotte, Southfield, Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield suburbs in Michigan at least since 12 PM. Checked with local AT&T store, they report problem with signal transmission due to power outage via DTE. Called 1-800 no for wireless support which says they are closed on Sunday. What a loser????

I have lots of bars, i just get unassigned number. Texts say they are going through but i have not got any responses yet. Im really upset att does not have this on their website. some of us only have cell phones ugggh

This morning when I was at LAX, coming back to Detroit, I started having problems making and receiving calls at 8:00 PST (11:00 EST). When my plane landed at 4:00, the message on my phone said network not available. I tried to get ahold of my husband (who has a 734- number but is in Atlanta) and he's been able to make calls and texts, but not receive them.
About 5 min ago, the time zone updated and a string of texts from the day came in, but I can't make calls.

My wife's BB Curve is outta service as well. Cingular ATT has always been reliable for me, since the Cell One days. This is the first major issue I have had, but is is a BIG issue! Hard to believe such a large outage can happen.

Service is a-okay here in Virginia, no problems at all. Had something like this happen on Verizon about 6 months back, where it was out for about 8 hours (that outage started around 10pm though, so it wasn't too debilitating for me personally).

As of about 10 minutes ago, text messaging seems to be working although phone calls are still not goint through.

I just turned off my phone and turned it back on and now I can text but can not receive phone calls.

Why do other at&t phones work except for iphone and new razors? boy iphone is real state of the art! So many standard features other phones have, iphone doesn't. Like a video recorder or a camera where you don't need to have surgeon steady hands to take a clear picture.

Just drove from Kalamazoo to port Huron along i94. Couldn't make calls on my wifes old iPhone but could on my 3g iPhone. Calls to our phones go to voicemail Edge and 3g is also very spotty along the way

No service on my 3G in Indianapolis all afternoon. Tried shutting down and taking my SIM card out and restarting....no luck. Can't text or call.
Wait I have full service as of right now...we'll see how long this lasts.

In my 12-13 years with Cell One, Cingular and now AT&T, I've never seen anything like it before. I'll still take that track record over other carriers. out of the 3 phones in my house, one works and two don't. However, on one that doesn't have complete service, I can call or text out, can't get calls or texts in or get internet or email. Now, if it's not fixed by tomorrow am, that's a different story....

Out in Mchenry IL area, and I have had no service almost all day. Apple and AT&T people say it has to do with flooded towers, and that they don't know when they will be up and running again. Most of the problems consist of 3G iPhone owners, but the issue has affected my sister's pearl and my brother's 3G razor.

per AT&T - they state they are having issues. There are towers out in our area. If you grab one of those towers basically you're screwed until they have it fixed. They are giving a "one time credit" if you really complain.

We have been out all day. Shows 2 bars now but still can't use it. We all rebooted our phones but they still will not work. Not very happy. Tried to go online to check status and make a report but there was nowhere to do this. Borrowed a friends Verizon phone but was on hold over 10 minutes so I hung up.

Waste of money . I am planning to switch my service to other networks. Poor service from ATT. When it was cingular it was all good. I am very much disappointed with ATT

I can now get internet and email works. Now calls go to my voicemail. It's getting better...

Wireless down in Milwaukee, WI. Can receive texts and make outgoing phone calls, but cannot receive incoming calls. Callers reach a message that says number is no longer in service (cannot even leave voice messages).

I just spend 500.00$ today on an iPhone and accessories. I left the store and haven't been able to use my phone all day. I haven't even been activated. I am taking the phone back and switching to Verizon. This is the worst service I've ever experienced from such a large provider.

PS I'm in Janesville, WI and there has been no service since at least noon today. It has been over 7 hours with nothing.

Have service now in Indianapolis on my 3G. Can send and receive texts, make calls, check voicemail, use internet. Not sure if I can receive calls yet.

Service in Detroit has been fully restored!!! Text has been available for the last 2 hours or so, phone service is intermittent on the incoming end....outgoing is more stable.

Service was out for several hours on Sunday. Of course customer service is closed on Sunday, and no info on the ATT website. I also cannot, cannot! log on to my account because it is a business account. I've spoken to several reps to no avail.

Working fine in manhattan. But I had no service in neither mars or Pluto and that's a drag cause I travel to those planets frequently on day to day basics for work.

Still no service at 11 pm in western Michigan. 12+ hours without service. I need it for work.

Service is back on in Elgin, IL got 3G and able to surf. Still no connection to my home network however...

Im in Indanapolis...NO SERVIC since 1.....pm it 1130 Pm..Nothing...I have nothing

I was in Chicago yesterday, San diego today - in both areas 3G connections have been very slow to acquire, and even when I show a connection, it can take 40 seconds or so from hitting the final button and the call being placed. I also drop to "No Service" or "Searching" very often, even at home, where I normally have (had) 2 bars.

I'm not having any problems in my area of Orlando, FL.

No service ALL DAY here in sf bay. I've reset several times with no luck.
**** AT&T. "Most reliable" my ass.

I'm in Chicago near-northwest side and I've been down since 11am for both voice and data, that's at least 14 hours. About every hour I've reset my Palm Treo Pro by taking the battery out for 5 minutes then installing and rebooting, still can't get voice or data.

I live in a Cleveland suburb, had no problem yesterday, today I can make calls, but cannot receive them, goes right into voice mail. I work for the airlines and am on call, if I don't get a call I can get into alot of trouble. I called AT&T cust. service and get a recording...due to circumstances beyond our control, we can't answer the phone, would be nice if there was a recording saying they are aware of an outage.

The AT&T outage is directly related to Level 3 Communications having an outage. AT&T uses Level 3 as a fiber backbone in several metropolitan areas. Level 3 had an outage here in The Baltimore/DC Metro areas, but my AT&T service was not affected. My guess is, AT&T runs on several backbones in this (extremely large) metro area, which makes good sense.

Indianapolis and Bloomington Indiana are down and have been for a since sometime Sunday. It is now noon Monday.

ATT & iPhone working fine through all this.
I have activated skype using fring.
I can also make calls with truephone. Although I need wu-fi for these last 2 services.
This is a great exercise on creating alternatives.

I've been down since 11am yesterday in Chicago, no voice, no text, no data for the last 26 hours. This is getting ridiculous.

In the Madison, Wisconsin area... and still having problems with our service. We (my plan family planned phones of 5 ) are able (mostly) to make outgoing calls. However, we still cannot receive them consistently. Typically the calls are going right to voicemail. Texting is hit and miss. When range is available it is spotty at best and certainly not to the normal level. Internet is S.L.O.W. Phone type does not matter. We have 1 older Sony Ericcson, 1 Quickfire, 1 Palm Treo, 1 new palm Centro, and 1 older iPhone.

In Okla. City. Haven't had ATT phone service since Sunday, Dec. 28th. Calls go through, then drop immediately.

No service in washington dc. My 3G goes from "Searching..." to "No Service" to full bars but cannot connect a call and then back to "No Service". They claim there is a major outage that will be "repaired" within 48 hours. Wonderful.

So my service went out on the 28th at like 3. The 29th it was working except I couldn't recieve voicemail, texts or calls. Nothing this morning different. Lame, btw I have the iPhone 3g.

No service since morning of the 29th here in Atlanta. Talked to an AT&T rep and they said it should be restored sometime today (30th)

Service stopped working in the San Francisco area around 11am this morning. I get 3 bars from AT&T, but can't call or receive calls. Support says that service will be restored in "590 minutes". Ugh - so much for using my iPhone 3g for business!

East Texas here. Calling and internet work fine but I can't send or receive texts. I get a message saying it was sent but people aren't getting them and when I tried texting from other phones they never showed up on my iPhone.

No AT&T cellphone connectivity here in LA this morning (January 5th, 2009). Could reach landlines anywhere but no cellphones. Appeared to be restored by noon. Call to AT&T revealed message saying they were having difficulties, no humanoids to speak to.

Detroit metro area - making and receiving calls has been difficult for the last week or so. Calls within AT&T network (both caller and receiver using AT&T) are especially bad; my wife and I cannot connect (no pun intended :-). I have been able to receive calls made from different service subscribers and place them with mixed results.

new york metro area- service has been off and on for about the past 12hours have not been able to send calls hope they fix this quickly

santa rosa and lake county area of northern California - service has also been off and on (mostly off) for a couple of days now.

3g has been cutting out after a few minutes in the Presidio of San Francisco, where coverage is usually and should be excellent (since it's right next to the young-rich-and-white ghetto called The Marina). Also, seeing a weird symbol I've never encountered, even on edge: A little circle thing, or a blank space, even with lotsof bars.

Data on 3G has been spotty all day. I've got 5 bars but can't get reliable web access. Works one minute. Doesn't work the next. Thanks goodness for Edge. Thought I'd never say that.

North Chicago suburb, AT&T 3G service is spotty since yesterday! I have trouble receiving calls all day today, I have to turn off 3G service so I can use my iphone!

I have had a 3G data problem in Cleveland since January 14 at 7am. I thought it was my iphone 3G at first. If I switch to Edge, data is fine. I called ATT Wireless twice today and there was no estimate of when it would be fixed.

I haven't had service all day here in Cali... what's the deal????
