How to get turn-by-turn, Street View, transit directions, and more with Google Maps for iPhone

It's pretty buggy. The voice is horrible at pronouncing streets. Very limited in features. It's only staying on my phone for searches & street view, basically like before.

Lol spoken like a true Apple fanboy. No one of those things are present for me, quit trolling it and be thankful Google saved your life.

I suppose you didn't understand. Basically like before. Both Apple & Google Maps kind of suck compared to Navigon for navigation. As a search tool, the google maps (vs Apple's) is definitely better, but again, it's what we had before.

I can't comment on the transit part. I haven't had a need for it...thankfully.

I thought the voice was excellent.. Sounds very human, and has yet to mangle some of the complicated street and town names on Long Island, which often are associated with Native American history.. Even when I call someplace and speak to a human, people have trouble pronouncing these names.

For iPhone4 users like me, who Apple screwed over by not providing turn by turn spoken navigation, this app is gold. But for 4s and 5 users not sure how much of an upgrade this is.

Also iOS maps don't have street view do they?

Doesn't work in Thailand. After downloading the app, navigation doesn't exist. After following your steps, all I get is a "preview" button. There is no "start" button. It seems they didn't activate it for all countries yet. Also no access to contacts is a deal breaker.

I'm using iPhone 5 with latest iOS version. I asked other people in Thailand and they all have the same problem. No "Start" button. In which country are you?

I don't think I'm missing anything, but still having to type in my destination in this mapping app, along with other missing features, and I'm thinking it's just another in a long list of half-baked, hurried app releases.

Annoying. Frustrating. Disappointing.

No kidding. Even after you sign in with it, you still have to enter contacts including your own. This is crap. Where's the voice search included in google's search app? This is definitely 1.0.

I am happy that the app is available already! It is a bit clunky and search history button would be nice without logging in. I am happy to have transit and street view back! They will work out the kinks. They needed something out before people forgot about the maps issue all together.
