Microsoft makes Windows Phone commercial, sells iPhone instead

Microsoft has released a new commercial for the Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 920, and in it they show off both Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S. A lot. So much, in fact, it's hard to know what the commercial is about until the very end, when the Lumia 920 finally makes an appearance. Anyone outside Microsoft see the problem there?

Rumor: Apple has high-level employees scouting out CES competition

Apple has apparently sent a few high-level employees to CES to scout out the competition and see how other companies present future products.

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) famously avoids the biggest event on the tech industry calendar, and given the traffic on Paradise Road this morning you can’t exactly blame them. But that doesn’t mean Apple isn’t scouting the competition in person at CES 2012.

EU investigates Apple, eBook publishers for anti-competitive behavior

According to Bloomberg, the European Union Anti-trust regulators will be investigating Apple, along with five of the major eBook publishers, for possible collusion to help stifle competition within the eBook marketplace.

The European Commission in Brussels today said it opened a formal probe to examine whether the publishing groups and Apple, maker of the iPad tablet computer, engaged in agreements that would harm competition in the 27-nation EU. The probe will examine deals between Apple and Lagardere’s Hachette Livre, News Corp.’s Harper Collins, CBS Corp.’s Simon & Schuster, Pearson Plc’s Penguin and Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH.

iPhone 4 vs Nexus S in Photos

iPhone 4. Nexus S. There's probably more to say about the differences than the similarities. Different operating systems? Check. Don't work with 3G on the same networks? Check. Different screen sizes? Check. Different philosophy and methodology towards multitasking? Check. Different video conferencing solutions (insofar as few to none work yet on the Nexus S)? Check.

The list goes on, but we're sort of guessing that for most the choice between the Nexus S and the iPhone 4 will be determined by carrier choice and OS preference more than whether Android's latest can go head-to-head with Steve Jobs' glass-encased wonderphone.

All that shouldn't stop you from hitting us after the break for a photo fight between the iPhone 4 and the Nexus S - with some extra attention paid to how the iPhone still has the best music player around while Android's just-released Google Maps 5.0 makes iOS's version look a little lacking.

Want more? Be sure to hit up our frenemies at Android Central for all the latest on the Nexus S.

iPhone to Competitors: Can't Touch This

All signs are pointing to some new iPhone hardware come this Monday at WWDC. Even if the upgrades are all internal and minor such as memory, CPU, and storage bumps - the iPhone is poised to stay on the top of the hill regardless of what Palm, RIM, or HTC may bring to the table.

In a article posted on Wired.com, Roger Entner, an analyst at Nielsen Mobile had the following to say:
