iPhone 5, budget iPhone 4 get rumored for China Telecom

Sohu.com has a report up saying China Telecom, China's third largest mobile carrier, will not only be fielding the iPhone this year, but two new iPhones. We're fairly sure an iPhone 5 is coming this fall, and we've heard for a while now an iPhone nano/budget iPhone might be coming with it. (Two new iPhones in one year? I'll have to call Phil and ask how to deal with that many reviews!)

iPhone 5 fakes already turning up in China [video]

The iPhone 5 hasn’t been launched yet, we don’t have any real idea what it will look like either. That hasn’t stopped the Chinese market for fake handsets to get one out the door already! Are we surprised? Not at all.

If we imagine for a moment, that the knockoff shown above, or in the video after the break, is based on some inside information on the iPhone 5 design, what do you think? It looks like a softened iPhone 4 design with a few more curves and an iPhone 3GS type curved rear.

Gizmodo's Jesus Diaz is so sure this design is accurate, he's

iPhone 5 case leak-a-palooza

According to M.I.C. Gadget, those iPhone 5 cases we caught a peak of earlier in the week are pretty much "everywhere" in China.

What we are hearing now is that the Chinese case makers are distributing their iPhone 5 cases.

Again, we won't know for certain what iPhone 5 looks like until Steve Jobs or another Apple exec holds it up on stage this fall, but these manufacturers certainly seem confident enough in their knowledge of Apple's iPhone 5 plans to risk their money on producing mass quantities of these Skittle-colored cases.

iPhone 5 appears in Korean carriers inventory system but only in 16GB and 32GB flavors?

Here we go again, another day another iPhone 5 rumor. This time, 9to5 Mac has received an alleged screen capture from KT’s (Korea Telecom) internal stock inventory system. The screen shot clearly shows SKU’s (stock-keeping units) for AIP5 which we assume stands for Apple iPhone 5 followed by a number.

What might be a picture of what might be an iPhone 5...

Yes folks, it's silly season, the months before a new iPhone when case leaks and device peaks dominate the blogs as everyone and their blurry cam tries to get a shot of what's next from Apple -- like a picture on a train of something in something that could be something... or nothing.

Here's what Seth Weintraub of 9to5Mac had to say:

Probably not iPhone 5 cases leak

More reports are springing up that the next generation iPhone 5 will feature a thinner, tapered hardware design based off images of 3rd party silicone cases. Now this is not the first time we've come across rumors of what the new hardware will look like. It all started as early as April when we heard about a completely new design and then again earlier this month we heard similar reports of a thinner and lighter device.

Future iPhones, like Superman, to be powered by the sun?

The on again, off again Digitimes rumour-mill claims both Apple and manufacturing-partner/device competitor Samsung are looking into solar cells as a future power source.

Samsung and Apple have been evaluating the possible niche market for solar-powered consumer products and considering the inclusion of Taiwan-based solar firms in their respective supply chains. However, according to Taiwan-based solar firms, these niche markets will need a longer time to develop.
